Who's watching it tonight? I adored the last series, it was so incredibly well written. What are people's predictions of what will happen to them? Who will Adam end up with? Will Hannah become an actual writer or will Marnie become an actual singer?

I sobbed at the ending...though I am the sleep deprived mum of an 8 month old! I felt That final look to camera was amazing. It said I'm going to keep trying. Like she said to 'girl without pants' there are a million other things your mum would rather be doing, but she shows up and tells you to do your homework for your own good. Hannah would rather be doing anything else (she tried to run away again ffs) but she's going to keep trying. She tried again, even though it was awful she showed up and she tried again. That's what I think anyway!!

Love that it was Marnie and Hannah and her mum at the end. Though I still have no love for Marnie really. If there was anyone more selfish and self absorbed than Hannah...it's Marnie!! Though her life on pause, this is important answer for why are you here was lovely. I'll give her that ;)

This series was fab. And no 'and here's how it all turned out ending'. I loved that. The story continues, we just don't see it.

I loved the ending. It was so left field. Can't wait for the film.

Thank you liskee those are my thoughts too

Marnie was there. Out of all of them she was there. Maybe initially for selfish reasons but when it got tough and Hannah was spiralling down, she stuck with it, called her Mum to come and sort her out etc. I liked it, I am glad we got a chance to see Hannah with her baby.

Tbf I sobbed at the ending.

And Hannah's rant at the young girl just rang so true! There are often places I'd rather be than the sometimes-drudgery of being a Mum.

It also showed how the people that love and care for you the most tend to be the ones that stick around once you hit motherhood.

Yes, it wasn't a big shiny glam gorgeous ending, but then if Girls was meant to be a snapshot at 'reality', this final episode felt very much a snapshot of Hannah's reality. No Adam to the rescue, not a party in a bijou apartment in NYC, but feeling a bit lost, sore and angry in a house that doesn't yet feel like a home.

And still bleeding from your vagina.

Perfect ending IMHO!

Having thought it through I did like it as an ending, like a coda to the finale. I think if it had ended at episode 9 we'd be left with the big question "but how does she cope with motherhood?" - episode 10 answered that. What a special series, anyone who was put off by the "bunch of millenials being selfish and naked" label have really missed out on some superb writing especially in the last few seasons.

Yes im wondering whether to gift the whole thing to a cynical 50 year old.

NecklessMumster · 19/04/2017 09:38

Well I'm a cynical 50 something and it's my favourite series

I loved that the ending was small.
Id have been happy if it had ended with the dissolution of the Adam situation as that was such a perfect moment.
