I can will imagine that hospitals like that were still very much all about white folk coming in to save the Africans. It still is a lot of the time now, charities still very much function on the basis of a white person going in and teaching the black person how it should be done. I know people who spent a couple of years working with a charity in an African country. The idea was that they used their skills to improve the business, train individuals etc and leave it self sufficient. But it was still white knows best and white tells black how to do it.

but the secretary with the phantom pregnancy was empowered as she became the administrator of the hospital.

but whites took their religion to africa.

I'm watching it now, it's awful! I love it normally.

Did anyone else notice that water pipes man's baby was referred to as a boy by the woman Doctor but later on someone said it had been a girl?

Definitely didn't miss Chummy. She's lovely in the books and Ok when she first appeared in the show but MH plays her like a pantomime dame now.

According to the Facebook page she was supposed to be back for this new series and dropped out again due to other commitments.

I don't really miss her either. She was ok but certainly not needed

I don't think she'll be coming back. I gather there were furious rewrites as she dropped out at the last minute so I can't see them giving her another chance. I couldn't stand her so I'm not bothered and her absence hasn't affected viewing figures.
