I'm so sorry lonelyone.

You should feel proud of your C grade in English. It was down to your hard work. I also know that you are a wonderful mother to your DS (at least your experience did not put you off having your own children). It's your mother who is missing out and she will eternally regret what she did.

Just caught up with this thread - I found this programme terribly upsetting :{

Desperately hoping something is done to help the whole family

Only 30 complaints to SS though, but I have seen hundreds of posts across various forums... It's sad only a minority speak out

Hmmm...

Update

speedymama · 10/02/2007 07:54

From one of the letters responding to the Mr Craig's complaint:

"If Mr Craig felt that the documentry was biased was and unfair. Then how come earlier today i read a transcript of a radio programme that had the producer of this programme on it. She made this comment "Incidentally Paul and Amanda chose to be called "blind and disabled" - that was their description of themselves. They saw the film twice before it went out and they were happy with it, they felt it was very fair."

Seems to me that the parents were not expecting the forthright response that they are now receiving. Maybe they thought they would become the next generation of Reality Stars that would keep them supplied with copious amounts of cigarettes and beer? .

Someone please explain to me how the editors could have shown filthy children, squalid house, baby eating off floor like a dog, children kept in nappies all day until slaves, sorry, daughters returned from school and a traumatised 9yo who attempted to commit suicide a year earlier any differently?

speedymama · 10/02/2007 07:57

From two other letters:

"How come Mr Craig if you are blind, you can drive a motorised scooter and also carry children on it? I have 3 blind brothers and they would never dream of treating their children as you treat yours"

"very true, Im a blind parent myself and wouldn't dream of riding a scooter."

As I said before, imo, the parents are just plain lazy and have been caught out.

speedymama · 10/02/2007 08:01

And another letter - from a mother whose daughter is friends of the the youngest daughter:

"i totally agree i was in tears after watching this film ,ithe youngest daughter of the 2 is actually my daughters friend and i know she gets picked on and called horrid names because of her parents .i have never actually been in their house (that im glad of)but daughter and sons have been to mine and they were hungry .and he manages to get his money from bank by the way ok with no help "

scared21 · 12/02/2007 04:40

Only saw a bit of this but it was horrible viewing

I wonder how they managed to look after the two girls when they were babies? If, as they said, they were perfectly able to change, bathe and dress them etc, why are they no longer able to do that for their younger kids?

Horrible story, hope something is done to sort it.

Quootiepie · 12/02/2007 05:00

Makes me wonder how well the oldest were looked after. If the babies are looked after like that, with 2 older children helping, the mind boggles to think how the 2 eldest lived as babies
