Anyone watching?

I'm enjoying Dom more than I anticipated

Looking forward to all the egos clashing.

I can’t believe they gave Colin a sea burial

PinkArmadillo · 30/09/2018 23:18

It was like in LOTR when they send dead boromir down the river in the canoe

Poor old colin getting put on the island with such a bunch of morons.

next weeks plot twist: super powered sharks, grown fat on a diet of pork...

lardass88 · 01/10/2018 07:58

It always amuses me how they "find a washed up net" and a bloody great fat pig on the island 🙄

Olinguito · 01/10/2018 11:36

Yes, I seem to remember a turkey rather fortuitously wandering by in a previous series when they were all starving. Funny how these creatures and pieces of equipment turn up so conveniently!

And as for the Colin fiasco - words fail me!

abacucat · 01/10/2018 16:54

If I had been on The Island I would have been hated, because I would not have been able to stop myself saying - really, you are going to bury a fucking pig instead of eating it? Crazy.

BringMeTea · 01/10/2018 19:31

Just saw this. Funniest thing on tv this year. Jo: 'The pig strangled itself'. Like it was suicidal or something. No, numnuts caused its death. Cannot believe the ones who wanted to eat it didn't. That Pete must be like a svengali.

vjg13 · 02/10/2018 20:17

It was so funny, had to keep rewinding it especially Eric falling over all the time and the whole pig situation.

ellenanora5 · 02/10/2018 21:45

I swore I wouldn't watch this again, its gets worse each year Grin
but my curiosity got the better of me.

Can't believe they went along with him about the bloody pig, and the whinging he did, I'm probably missing something but why does he eat fish and not meat.

Ontheboardwalk · 02/10/2018 22:12

I’m sorry but I’m still finding Colin’s sea burial really funny, I can’t stop thinking about it. I’ve just restored the episode from my sky box so I could take this picture

Why send Colin out to sea? He's not going to look pretty when he's washed up in a few days 🤮
They should have buried him. Poor Colin

ZaZathecat · 03/10/2018 09:11

Just caught up with Sunday's episode.
I was amazed how all the meat-eating celebs were bowing to whingey Pete's wishes, but thought 'oh well he's so committed and emotional about it, and they are so kind to care about that'. Then I heard he's been veggie for 5 months, 5 MONTHS!! So he was scoffing Big Macs just 5 months ago and now he won't allow his starving companions to eat a pig?? I wonder if he ever eats a meal with an omnivore and whether they are allowed to eat what they like while in his company.

And (while I am totally addicted to this programme) yes, it's funny how a fishing net always gets washed up on the beach, All the times I've spent on beaches and never once had a net wash up at my feet. Never seen a pig or a turkey wandering about either! Oh well, I suppose it wouldn't look good if Channel 4 allowed people to starve to death.

ZaZathecat · 03/10/2018 09:13

I meant to say also, you wouldn't see this in the pleb version of the Island (everyone agreeing not to eat meat). I guess they don't feel the pressure to look worthy for the public like the celebs do.

thenightsky · 08/10/2018 18:54

Just caught up with this now. Am I the only shouting 'eat the bloody pig' at the tv?

ZaZathecat · 09/10/2018 16:50

Just saw the final episode. I see Pete was eventually made into a hero, but if I was there I'd still be holding a secret grudge about the pig/no meat thing he steamrolled everyone into.
I think Martin, Jo and Anthony came out of it looking really good and I'd definitely choose them to be with if I had to be stranded on an island.

MrsSkarsgard · 09/10/2018 20:35

Martin is really coming across well in this.

The pig thing last week was ridiculous. Pete's values should not impact on others' survival experiences. They might have to cut short their time on the Island because they are too unwell. Look at the state of James Cracknell, a meal of pig would have given him a real boost.

MrsSkarsgard · 11/10/2018 10:44

Just watching the Bear Grylls analysis episode - I'm so glad he pulled Pete for imposing his values on other people and as a result they were not strong enough to go out and forage for more food. He would have been a hero of the programme if not for his arrogance that his efforts in getting fish would have looked after the WHOLE camp's food. For everyone to eat well, everyone needs to be hunting. I think he came across as a controlling man. Whereas Crackers, Jo, Antony, Martin Eric etc embraced the experience.

Izzabellasasperella · 11/10/2018 13:27

I did wonder though whether the muslim doctor (sorry I can't remember her name) objected very strongly to the killing of the pig as the others would have to have used knives, bowls and the fire to cook and eat it. I think they may have edited the show in a way to blame Pete more and keep religion and beliefs out of it.
