Dance since S2 started, BA's twitter following has increased by about 10k. He's now got 31.6k and about 22k following his instagram account, so good news for him in increasing his social media profile.
Glad to see an update to That's an Order, thanks for that and looking forward to more Smile

I was here discussing all things OG for the last series (under a different user name) and I agree with what you have said Rhubarb that there were fewer people watching the last series, as you say, probably down to the slot.

I also loved the army connection (was in the TA a million years ago - often a lone female) so it hit a nerve with me and I really enjoyed the respect it gave to the Army (although I recall there were quite a few military wives on here at the time who had husbands groaning at some of the scenes!).

I have enjoyed this series so far as a stand alone series, but the military has been a very small part of the story this time, it has focused on the romance and personal lives of the characters, which in my view has been a bit disappointing.

SoEverybodyDance · 29/09/2016 15:47

Ah well, only two million, nine hundred thousand and sixty nine or so followers to find then Kaz. Poor chap! Thing is, although we will obviously adore him for always he's probably a bit too middle class (in this role) to be loved universally, which is probably why fleabag is great for him... he can be edgy, metrosexual and super cool with the 20 somethings...

As for FF, well that's nice of you Kaz especially considering the amount of time I've taken to knock out a paltry 1,000 words!

Rhubarb01 · 29/09/2016 16:02

I remember you now namechange. We liked talking to people with insider intel and I remember you saying how the banter etc reminded you of your time in the TA. You're right, there were quite a few people able to point out the military inaccuracies - which always happens in any drama I suppose - but even so I still think it was very much more about the role of the army in Aghanistan, why they were there and what it felt like for a young, inexperienced group like Two Section and for Molly. We had a lot of fun with the romantic aspects but it was still all quite restrained. Maybe that's why we were so keen - it left us wanting and demanding more. So, here we are getting more although not CJ and Molly and we're grumbling a bit - gosh we must sound very hypocritical. Oh it must be the dramatic dramatisation of the drama!

Woof please come back to us - hope you're not too disgusted to comment or has Captain Poldark been keeping you a bit too busy this week?

I'm watching because I like MK, CJ and Elvis but it's all gone a ludicrously unlikely. Even more so than CJ and MD discussing their feelings while mine-sweeping.

I'm annoyed that Georgie is even considering leaving the army, at the bequest of a fiancée who just wants her to have babies. I presume she will change her mind in the next episode, but not before a leaving party apparently which will just make her look flaky.

On the plus side, this thread introduced me to the Secrets of the SAS series which is excellent.

I've also been watching 'Tour of Duty' Dvd on military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, which I've found gripping.

namechangedtoday15 · 29/09/2016 16:44

Yes, that's me Smile. I think the "You've taught me more than a year at Sandhurst ever did" was particularly unpopular!!

Still love it - am simultaneously watching Series 1, Series 2 and reading the old FanFiction stories this week!

kuiakaituhi · 29/09/2016 16:48

Can't sleep again tonight. Just cottoned on to why...we started daylight saving on Sunday, first week is always the worst.
Rhu and anyone else interested in Shakespeare. When he was here making the Hobbit movies, Sir Ian McKellen became an honorary Kiwi. We love him and he loves us. The Christchurch earthquakes gave him a chance to get around the place and do fundraising performances. He never charged a fee. I went to see him on the final night of 'King Lear' in Auckland and I don't think I have ever experienced anything like him in that role. He was spellbinding. At the end there was a total, reverent silence that went on for several minutes and then the applause erupted. I can't remember how many curtain calls there were. Lear is an old man, failing in all his faculties, betrayed by two of his daughters and himself treating the third abominably. Those of us with aging parents were, that night, really challenged and some of us left very uncomfortable. Same for those of us getting old.
I guess that is what the Bard does...holds up mirrors for us to look into if we dare, or away from if we do not dare.

cjwoofwoof · 29/09/2016 16:53

Good afternoon one and all. Here is my overdue opinion of last nights episode:

CJs diarrhoea trousers in the shopping mall - why oh why oh why BBC?
CJ wearing Clare Baldings cast off hacking anorak in cafe - eeeeeek no no no, Boss
mads what's the bit between your nose and your top lip called? Because Elvis's is the most kissable, suckable, nay chewable, piece of flesh I've ever seen and I want it mounted on a velvet lined platter for frequent tasting at my leisure

And that's all I have to say about Episode 4

kuiakaituhi · 29/09/2016 16:58

From the sublime to the less than...I had it all wrong about the return of Poldark.
Behold the listing in our TV Guide for next week.

TREASURE CHEST Aidan Turner returns in Poldark For some viewers the burning question is, "When will he get his shirt off again?"

So you can see we have our act sorted down here when it comes to the important things in life
AT is, of couse also an honorary Kiwi after 'The Hobbit' and learned to ride horses in preparation for Poldark whilst he was here,

Woof this was for you. Where are you?

Rhubarb01 · 29/09/2016 17:04

kuia that sounds like a fabulous experience. It's absolutely donkeys years since I saw any live Shakespeare. The Globe was just the theatre tour, which was interesting but doesn't take very long. I totally agree though that seeing a play performed is so different to reading it. Even if you don't understand everything that is said because we can't tune our ears in very easily to old English these days, you sense it all from the tone and expression of the way it is delivered. It really helps if you are studying something to see a live performance.

It's called your philtrum woof Grin

cjwoofwoof · 29/09/2016 17:45

Aah thanks mads in that case I want Elvis's philtrum up against my windows on a regular basis and thats definitely a euphemism

to the nocturnal kuia - go to bed woman and leave me to my philtrum licking Grin

Alwaysfrank · 29/09/2016 18:51

Could be, Kezia, could be....

Been thinking yet again about the lack of soundtrack. Last time the programme was targeted at a young audience - hence presumably the soundtrack being packed with lots of songs from current bands. Perhaps with such a, ahem, mature following, the powers that be decided it wasn't necessary this time and just included innocuous orchestral snippets at dramatic moments? Because that's all I have noticed this time. Apart from the Kooks, of course.

pixieg1rl · 29/09/2016 19:25

You can listen to the orchestral stuff online soundcloud.com/benfostermusic/sets/bbc-ourgirl-season-2-episode-4

Ilovelblue · 29/09/2016 20:21

Evening all. Thought I'd better have a quick re-watch ahead of tomorrow night's watchalong. A couple of questions, if anyone has time:

When Elvis rings Georgie and she and Dr J are in bed and he asks her to meet him in the Polish cafe, is Dr J still listening somewhere or does he follow her there or what?

When Dr J walks into said cafe and makes conversation with Elvis, before Elvis realises who he is, Dr J asks what the breakfasts are like. EH responds by saying "the best Polish breakfast this side of Kiev", but Kiev is in the Ukraine and is east of Poland anyway.

Rhubarb01 · 29/09/2016 20:33

Now funnily enough ilove I've just finished my first re-watch as well - you don't think we're twins separated at birth or something do you? - and I was also wondering how Dr Bland turns up at the cafe. I can only assume that Georgie told him where she was going before she went out and he thought he'd wander down there to see for himself. The strange thing is that at the time he just thinks he's someone who saved Georgie but he tells him to 'Be off with you" - I assume he just means stop involving her in things at the time but then puts two and two together.

As for Poland and Kiev I just think Elvis is crap at Geography - not great for someone who tours the world killing people - could get messy!

When they were lying in bed talking about Jamie taking a job in London I reckon that Georgie just doesn't want to go there because it's too near Elvis?

OP posts:
MaddieMoo82 · 29/09/2016 20:36

Evening! ilove I've haven't rewatched (just the lovely CJ talking about his wife bit Smile ) but got the feeling dull Jamie followed Georgie. Another reason I don't like him!
No idea about the breakfast Kiev/Poland bit. Didn't notice actually probably cause I was getting grumpy about dull Jamie!

Ilovelblue · 29/09/2016 20:39

I suppose Rhu that if you travel the world by helicopter or military jet, you don't have to be too clever at Geography as somebody else is doing all the travel arrangements. That said however, he seemed to be ok with co-ordinates etc when CJ was back at base giving directions when Elvis and his mob were looking for Georgie.

As well, in the prequel, he said he was off to the Ukraine after Afghan - and has recently been in Syria as well as Kenya, so he's probably just jetlagged!

Ilovelblue · 29/09/2016 20:41

Oh and I'm with you all on the subject of Georgie's mother. I think she's more bothered about what people will say if the wedding is cancelled/postponed that Georgie's actual happiness. We had the sister sussed from early on, didn't we?

GloriaGaynor · 29/09/2016 20:47

I think she doesn't want to go to London because she doesn't really want to marry Jamie.*

*I may be projecting

I'm a bit over weddings in this series.

Rhubarb01 · 29/09/2016 20:48

I guess when in doubt about the location Elvis looks at his super-duper, sunrise, sunset telling watch and goes "If it's Thursday this must be Libya" or something.

Perhaps when Dr Jamie asked what the breakfasts were like Elvis thought it was one of those contact spy phrases and was expecting Dr Jamie to respond, "I hear the fifty sausage challenge in Vladivostock is very popular"
"No,

Rhu that has just made me laugh out loud! That would be one hell of a watch but I suppose it would have a compass with it. Maddie was it you who found out what the make of watch was?

MaddieMoo82 · 29/09/2016 20:52

Nope not me ilove I can only do body parts!

Rhubarb01 · 29/09/2016 20:53

Yes Gloria I've also seen enough of wedding dresses. I sincerely hope that she flings the dress off and she and Elvis drive off in fast cars and go crime busting. Anyone seen that picture of them both perfectly in synch as they run up the road - slightly weird arm action though.
