Was that a whole hour of footage? Goodness! Didn't seem like it! I thought 30 minutes at best...

Jasonandyawegunorts · 19/09/2016 16:10

He had 3 episodes with a good 15 minutes of screen time each, then a few scenes and cliff hangers and his 30 second clips here and there.

MagpieCursedTea · 19/09/2016 16:56

They've started mentioned Ollie's development again, so I'm wondering if they'll discover something is wrong and she'll go off with him for treatment somewhere outside of Walford.

celeste83 · 19/09/2016 16:58

Ross Kemp must have requested to be paid by the minute of airtime, and of course the BBC are skint these days Grin I thought his return was a bit of a waste of time to be honest. He barely hung around to be with his dying Mum. He said hello to her and dissappared the same evening to go and live with Aunt Sal for a bit and then hides away in the graveyard at Peggy's funeral. WTF was all that about? As for the big build up of Grant rushing off to save Ben, what a load of tosh that was. He spent most of his time sat in the car chatting to Mark. And whats happened to Ben's killers? They ran off when Grant turned up and nothing has been heard of them since. Have they been charged?

The80sweregreat · 19/09/2016 17:45

In order to save money they dont do any more on location filming! They used to go abroad in the summer sometimes, or Norfolk!
Perhaps they needed the money for Grant!

LineyReborn · 19/09/2016 20:04

Oh here we go. Bins. Like the Council gives two weeks' notice of bin collection changes.

celeste83 · 19/09/2016 20:38

Good episode tonight. Wish they spent more time in court however rather than listening to Lauren and Whitney moaning. I felt the court scene was rushed. The bins storyline again. Bit ott with the impact i think. We have fortnightly collections. Its hardly the end of the world. Good stand off between Sonia and Shirley too.

LineyReborn · 19/09/2016 20:40

Always love Shirley.

EnidButton · 19/09/2016 21:06

Surprised there's anywhere left that doesn't have fortnight my collections.

Oh god, it's catching. Grin

EnidButton · 19/09/2016 21:06

Fortnightly

ThornyBird · 19/09/2016 22:46

We still have weekly collections. And no wheels bins.

missed the point entirely

Anyhow, just been catching up - was still on the old thread and thought it had gone quiet Blush.

I liked the return of Colin and guessed who it was and the reasoning when Dot was going on about things not being right. Which is most unusual for me.

Agree that Whit and Lee need to go, ideally taking Tina, her mother and Babe with them. Also Jack, Ronnie, Roxy and whatever combination of children they have collected.

Think Pam has been superb, will be interested to see how the Christine thing pans out...

ThornyBird · 19/09/2016 22:48

Oh ffs, the bold bit was meant to be misses the point entirely

MrsJayy · 19/09/2016 22:52

We are getting new bins i october getting rid of the bin and recycling boxes for just bins its the talk of the village community council are furious so i feel the squares angst Grin . I loved Sonia at Shirley and Denises you carry on

Akire · 19/09/2016 23:04

Hate way Disabled or sick people are always potrated as "non people" in soaps. Lauren is moaning because poor Jane have to using contience sheets that she didn't have to use see or change! Nothing about poor Jane feels about strangers having to come and help.

Same when Jim was in nursing home never showed how lonely and isolated he would feel always poor for poor family. Arghhh.

You know Silvia is going be in a nursing home before you can say get your slippers. How was Donua supposed been working all night looking after all day? While 8 other family adults can't cope for a day.

Akire · 19/09/2016 23:05

*sonia.

Least they are trying be realistic about Jack renting and affordability. Though they moved into Tina's to help carer they would have half the space.

Florathefern · 19/09/2016 23:52

I thought displaying Jane as a 'non person' as per PP was deliberate. I expected to see Jane listening outside the door, I could almost see the hurt on her face and her fear of being a burden. I think Lauren's description was quite 'real' especially for her age and I understood why somebody her age might say it.

I didn't understand why Kim would throw toast towards Jack who is her neighbour. I thought it was very odd. Throwing waste at a neighbour because her bin was full? That said, I like Kim's character a lot.

I am guessing there will be something wrong with Whitney's baby and Lee will be unable to cope with the news? They both smiled more tonight than in any other episode. Whitney's smile always seems fake. I can't warm to her at all.

EnidButton · 20/09/2016 00:37

Whitney's a pain in the arse. Still can't understand why but can't stand her. She's so wet and smug. Lee isn't helping. I suggest they both move up North and find a nice three bed somewhere.

EnidButton · 20/09/2016 00:58

Ok, once it got past Whitney and Lee and also the bins, it was actually a decent episode.

The Mum in the court loo was a nice touch. Wonder if she'll appear again. I felt like I recognised the actress.

Loved Denise's, "you carry on". Sonia giving Shirley an earful was a long time coming. They were both great.

The80sweregreat · 20/09/2016 07:25

I thought it was good to highlight how much renting somewhere is - the area in London where its meant to be set is huge amounts just for a small flat- Whitney only helps out at the Vic ( she was training to be a TA or nursery nurse once, but that didn't work out) and Buster cant be paying Lee much to work on his stall. I know it was done a bit cack handed, but it made a change from just seeing people living somewhere with not very well paid jobs and us wondering how on earth they can afford it. At least when Denise and kim had the B and B some of them could stay there! It should be expanded upon, the lack of affordable or council property that there is, how it can impact on families if they both decide to move further out in order to find a home - although Lee would have get another job of course. I know lots of people in the late 80s who did move up north in order to find a cheaper place to buy or rent, so its not really a new thing, just that prices to buy anything are just so stupid these days, especially in that area.
As for the bins, that also is a problem in some areas, as the programme on before EE pointed out, with fly tipping a huge problem and councils charging now for the green bins ( as they are where my dad lives in East London, it will be brought in soon)

NuggetofPurestGreen · 20/09/2016 08:47

Why can't Bex move to Kettering and go to school there? (Don't know anything about schools)

NuggetofPurestGreen · 20/09/2016 08:51

Also Stephen and Lauren just landed on Ian and are staying there for free presumably and Lauren is moaning about it. Feck off.

MrsJayy · 20/09/2016 09:00

Sonia was shouting about different exam boards at bex and her subjects not sure what that was about I don't live in England.

MrsJayy · 20/09/2016 09:02

Poor Rebecca having to squeeze into Lilly's room why can't the slaters move into Sonia's they are all earning.

SoupDragon · 20/09/2016 09:07

There are a few examining boards for GCSEs and the syllabus would be different meaning Bex we have to repeat Y10 in the right syllabus or be very very behind with lots of catching up.

MrsJayy · 20/09/2016 09:14

Ah OK we have 1 syllabus 1 exam bored here
