Lots of missing names from the top players- but we are edging towards the US open- without Federer- and who knows, maybe even without Djokovic.

Could we be heading for all change at the top?

I'm hoping Grigor has heard (or seen) Rafa's just done Milos in 3 and is now going "oh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck".

Apparently, the umpire was Eva Asderaki-Moore, she was the umpire Serena called 'ugly on the inside ' . McEnroe thinks she's great . I've seen her before being not so great- maybe today was one of her off days.

I do think Rafa has a great chance against Dimitrov, even f he has the most recent win.

I keep saying it- over 5 sets, it's different.

A Fed/Rafa final would be awesome. A re-run of the 2014 final with Stan but with a Rafa result would also be great.

Either way, I'm so chuffed that Rafa has got this far. So many people had written him off, and he is playing really very well. I just hope he can stay fit.

MrsV- are the Beeb not showing the final at all? Only highlights? I bet it would be a different story if Murray was playing. Now, Iknow he's British and all that, but it's a major tournament.It's a shoddy way to treat fans.

Mind you, I don't actually remember them showing the Australian open before Murray started getting results.

but tennis is obviously growing in popularity- the most marketable sportsperson last year (across all sports) was Roger Federer, despite hardly hitting a ball. Djok was also top 10, as was Nadal. Tennis is big business.

I know not everyone likes sport, but at least the Aussie is mainly over night, the final is Sunday morning, it wouldn't impact on people who wanted to watch Eastenders .

For years, I've worried about the day when the Beeb finally give up the rights to Wimbledon. And given how they rolled over with 'Bake Off' - their biggest hit to date, I don't think it will be long before they see ££££.

Well. You can listen to the final via R5live or whatever crap that is...but no showing of final at all. I don't know if maybe RvR becomes a reality they might show it ?

It tells you bbc coverage on the BBC site if you scroll down any of the news reports.

I think its crap. There isn't enough coverage of sports in my small opinion. Wont be long and you wont be able to watch any unless you have sky or virgin.

MrsV- my mother, who has every combination of sports package there is, because she is sports obsessed, and records cricket/rugby/football, you name it (it was her who got me into couch potato tennis), would still be distraught if Wimbledon left the BBC. We have the most basic virgin package, because we don't really watch much, and dh gets a 'special friends and family' thing that he can access online for Sky because BiL works for them, so he can watch football.

There's just so much shite on tv. Trying to find something to watch, we just have freeview, and you scroll through over 100 channels and there's nothing on but repeats, reality crap etc....

I'd honestly rather watch sports...of any kind...well, unless its football, cricket or golf.

I don't understand cricket, or golf. I will watch most other things. Football i only watch because dd1 is in an under 11's team, and I don't know any rules and I'm trying to be all 'soccer mom' and get to grips with stuff. But I'd rather watch 'Doctors' .

I love watching the Olympics, and can't wait for the winter Olympics next year. I love watching the Curling - especially the Norwegian men, in their snazzy trousers. And figure skating. I like top pretend (in my head ) it is 1984, and I am Jane Torvill ,and I have won gold for Bolero.

Our tv suddenly developed a weird half dark screen across the top half, so they have come as taken it to tv hospital. No tv for God know how long Wouldn't normally be bothered but it's the Open!!

I wouldn't have bothered as it seemed to clear after 10mins but DH.... Can I get it online via Eurosport or so I have to subscribe to something?

Also, are Serena's bloody stupid sleeves just a fashion statement or are they the arm equivalent of those socks you wear to stop DVT (or whatever it's called). Annoy me no end.
