Stranger Things on Netflix

Just started watching this last night after reading the rave reviews and hearing a few personal recommendations from friends. From the blurb, expected a light X-files type programme and was prepared to think it over-hyped but both DH and I loved it and I'm already fretting that I can't watch another episode till tomorrow because I'm going out later! The girl who plays Eleven is wonderful, the soundtrack's great and all the geeky Spielberg references are there without distracting from the story. Anyone else hooked?

I'm also finding that the end of Stranger Things has left a hole. I'm trying out The Outlaws, a Belgian series from More 4.

Owl you sound a bit like me, I don't really like scary things. I've watched the first two episodes and so far there have been some jumpy bits and some creepy-ish bits but I handled it! I didn't have to sleep with the light on or anything #proud

I'm now hooked and can't wait to watch another one.

Just make sure you've got a cushion to hide behind Wink

Oh God, I loved everything about this show.

Winona Ryder! She was fantastic.

I love how authentic the settings are. They didn't miss a single thing-perfectly 80s.

The friendships are great. Stand by Me meets Sandlot.

The font and creepy synthesizer music!

I was sad when I finished it.

I've just finished watching this and loved it. I can't do any type of horror because I'm a big baby but managed this just fine.

Mr Robot is next on the list.

JedRambosteen · 15/08/2016 22:16

I'm loving this. DH goes to bed earlier than me and I am not watching on a go slow so he can keep up. I'm just blasting through the series & I am thoroughly enjoying it.

JedRambosteen · 15/08/2016 22:17

What's MrRobot about?

fanniboz · 16/08/2016 02:17

Ah, I couldn't get into Mr Robot. It's about a young guy working in cybersecurity but he's also a hacker and gets recruited by a guy called Mr Robot to join a group of hacktivists. I can only just get through the first ep but it's on my list to try again cos Rami Malek is delicious

JedRambosteen · 16/08/2016 21:28

The only anachronism I've spotted so far was one of the kids referring to "do blah blah and chill" I think "and chill" is definitely current - it would have been "chill out" in the 80s.

elliefredericksen · 16/08/2016 21:29

fanniboz I'd recommend you try Mr Robot again beyond the first ep, as that is NOT -exactly- what Mr Robot is about...

elliefredericksen · 16/08/2016 21:30

strikethrough fail!

JedRambosteen · 16/08/2016 21:31

Same with my italics

Temporaryanonymity · 16/08/2016 21:35

I'm on the fence with this one. I started it the other night but forgot about it until I read this thread.

Best thing I have seen lately is UnReal on Amazon Prime. I binged that straight through.

JedRambosteen · 16/08/2016 21:38

I'm up to ep6. It's shaping up nicely.

fanniboz · 16/08/2016 22:16

Ellie I'll give it another go Smile it does seem like something I'd like, maybe just too many big words Grin

EsmesBees · 16/08/2016 22:26

I loved it. A friend pointed out to me that you don't often see teenagers on telly with acne anymore. Added to the authentic 80's feel!

JedRambosteen · 16/08/2016 22:44

Just starting final episode - boxset binge!

LumpySpacedPrincess · 16/08/2016 23:00

Go forth and watch, it's great.

JedRambosteen · 16/08/2016 23:28

Aw! So sad I've now finished it - loved it!
