So the only thing he was hiding was that he retaliated when they were called names? I don't really think that puts the blame on him. Maybe there's a bit more to it? Maybe Ben saw him getting beaten up but was scared and ran off and left him.

It's because Paul told Ben to leave it when they started saying homophobic things to them and Ben didn't and got gobby so they attacked them and Ben blames himself. He is Phil's son, he is how Phil has brought him up. Old musical, tap dancing loving Ben wouldn't have been gobby. Phil ruined him in a way.

I don't think Ben wants to admit it was a homophobic attack. He's only just become comfortable with his sexuality. I think that's what the odd reluctance to hold hands thing was indicating last week.

Totally agree - excellent emotional episodes. I couldn't stop crying at all. I can see why Pam would say that to Ben (& I kind of agree with her from a parents perspective.). Is Paul's mum going to come back or what was the point of those episodes?

I totally blubbed when les and Pam walked into the pub. But I had to laugh when Linda was in the kitchen and turned round with full baby bump on show for all to see, wonder how they'll write her out for a while, her mum I presume?

I think what Pam said was awful but I guess these things get said when people are grieving. Paul was really sweet though.

Paul was a very nice character, he was one of the few people in EE who always smiled. I will miss seeing his pretty and happy face when I watch the programme. .

Pam is brilliant. Her sadness is so real.

I wonder why though? Wish he'd gone travelling rather than killing him off as I think it's too cruel for the Cokers. Surely one or both of them will commit suicide given all the pressure they're under.

Paul did have a lovely smiley face. Poor Ben, I can completely understand his reluctance to be honest about it. The sad thing is he would have been so different if Kathy hadn't left him to his dad, instead of feeling ashamed of himself most of his life.
Not that I blame his reaction to those homophobic thugs at all.

Have the police forgotten Ben is actually a convicted killer? I thought they'd be a bit more probing than that. Maybe they're waiting until cctv or whatever is obtained

Well yes, Ben's 'previous' includes an eight month sentence for whacking Jordon on the head with a massive spanner, and four years for the manslaughter of Heather. The police would also presumably be aware he lied to them about pretty much every death he's ever been involved in - and there are quite a few- such as Stella's death (wrongly implicating his father) and hiding evidence subsequent to Lucy's murder.

Why the police would just suddenly start believing him now, is something of a mystery.

He was scheduled to be in it for a year for a specific storyline and as a plot device. I hope he gets lots more work. Agree that his smile was so lovely!

I'm wondering if Lrs will turn up to the funeral as Christine. He is bound to revert to being Christine in Claudette's company. I'm glad to see that despite Claudette being buried alive, wandering the streets of London, ending up in hospital, disappearing for a few weeks - her bright red dress remained in mint condition.

I think the police can see that Ben is also a victim too which is why they aren't looking at him, he is very banged up. They know it was a homophobic attack that he isn't admitting to (because of Phil). CCTV will show what happened although it won't show what was said.

I wonder if they will catch who did it? I guess that will happen off screen if they do?

Johnny is sniffing around Ben pretty quickly. I don't remember them being particularly pally since Johnny came back.

Johnn's scared rolling eyes are a bit pantomime ish. He must be in Mensa as he passed his law exams despite not attending ANY of his course and faffed around being constantly in a pub for a couple of weeks!

Just saw Harry Reid interviewed on This Morning. First time. Can't believe how much he looks, sounds and dresses like Ben Mitchell. Iyswim .
