Tbf, Ben was probably in shock after being beaten up so may not have been thinking straight, hence the walking home & suspicious story. I suspect if there is more to it that it'll be a hate crime but he couldn't bare to admit it to Phil. Would also explain his violent react to the "friend" comment if Paul died because they were more than friends.

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 09:16

I think Ben was drunk too so thought paul had gone home just as Ben was happy and settled Sad why did they not take the ventilator tube out ?

AndYourBirdCanSing · 20/07/2016 09:29

I agree he wouldn't have said if it was a homophobic attack in front of Phil anyhow. It's usual to be a bit hazy- I was attacked as a teenager and it's a bit of a blur still, and that's without the effects of alcohol.

Lee really is a miserable sod isn't he, and I am saying that as someone who suffers with depression. I also truly dislike this new Johnny.

AndYourBirdCanSing · 20/07/2016 09:33

Ronnie's absence was out of character. I wonder if Jay will be welcomed back into the fold now as Ben is likely to need him

LemonBreeland · 20/07/2016 09:34

They didn't take the tube out as it is now a murder investigation and they are not allowed to touch his body further. They said that to Phil and Ian before they went to look at the body.

I actually hope the Whitney story pans out as mentioned upthread, Only because I want it to be enough for her to decide to leave and go and live with Bianca in Brighton. She is really the dullest character.

AndYourBirdCanSing · 20/07/2016 09:37

Lemon- there is a spoiler on digital spy if you 'do' spoilers

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 09:46

Oh right Lemon must have missed that was probably put off by ians ugly crying face Grin. Back to last week where was Amy jack was out and about with Richard but no Amy?

LemonBreeland · 20/07/2016 10:41

Thanks AndYour I love spoilers

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 11:05

I hope Ben didnt just leave paul

Heavens2Betsy · 20/07/2016 11:42

Did anyone else think it was a bit different last night.
It seemed to be filmed differently somehow, it all seemed disjointed and a bit amateurish (well more so than usual). Too many long meaningful looks and weird silences. When Shirley went to tell Pam I was shouting at the telly "JUST TELL HER!", I don't get why she left her hanging like that.
All that shit with Belinda and her questionnaire was rubbish too - it's as if they just remembered she was meant to be buying a salon and threw a few scenes in.
Loved Linda's walking around with the laundry basket to hide her bump and the way she found out about Whitney.

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 12:03

I love Linda she is soo nosey its funny and when she twigged about whitney . I think the disjointedness was deliberate It did add to the tension i think

SuperFlyHigh · 20/07/2016 12:13

I actually thought it was filmed well last night, Ben's grief was great, Phil's mess-up and then comforting was good.

Pam (even though I think she's a ridiculous character) was very good. Les (rubbish acting) stroke of genius to just pour the tea down the sink.

Love chemistry between Linda and Mick - shame she will be off for a while when having baby.

Whitney and Lee are as wooden as hell - Lee has the 'I'm in a strop/moody face' down to a fine art now.

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 12:18

I laughed when Linda was trying to get sharon to tell her why she was going to florida

bloomburger · 20/07/2016 12:22

Why is Sharon going to Florida? Did Michelle have grant or phils baby or something.

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 12:29

She wrote a letter to peggy sharon opened it probably it said chelles son mark was grants and sharon will bring him back with her he will be involved in Grants storyline then he will go back to portugal with Daddy Grant

bloomburger · 20/07/2016 12:38

Blimey, it's all a bit complicated with the men in EE. They seem to impregnate anyone! It'll be Kathy pregnant with busters kid next and Ian will be Micks half brother!

Optimist1 · 20/07/2016 12:43

WRT Shirley and the bungled telling news to Pam, I felt she was probably reeling with what she'd had to go through a short while earlier - telling Kathy that Ben was dead and (possibly - I'm still unclear about this) learning that Kathy and Buster have been doing the dirty. Felt really sorry for her.

IslaMann · 20/07/2016 12:49

I don't think Shirley has twigged. She's not that subtle to find out something like that and then keep her claws to herself! I do love it when we see Shirl's vulnerable side tho. I love her character.

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 12:55

She hasnt twigged about buster and kathy she isnt that subtle she would have gone for him I do like shurl. Last week smoking a fag with pepsi and shirley tshirt on this week telling 2 people their boys were dead showed shirley as a great character. Im loving Denise and Kush flirty flirty thing they have going on

MrBoot · 20/07/2016 15:36

I thought last night was fantastic. It was so poignant and powerful . The note, asking if he died alone, talking objectively about 'the relatives', pouring the tea and walking around an empty flat made me remember how life can suddenly be turned upside down but we still have to go on and just how temporary we all are. I was in tears throughout. It was powerful television showing grief at its core.

MissBattleaxe · 20/07/2016 16:15

I agree Mr Boot. The low key way Les and Pam went home to a silent flat and both cried alone had far more impact than if the writer had gone for a high octane dramatic reaction. It was more realistic. I thought it portrayed grief very well. I had a big bereavement last year and it was just like that. Back to the house in silence with reminders everywhere.

EnidButton · 20/07/2016 16:32

I wasn't impressed with Ben's acting or the writing for him.

MissBattleaxe · 20/07/2016 16:56

I found it a bit disconnected that such a big storyline happened off screen. Apart from them going on a night out, there was no lead up. No scene where they felt threatened. It seemed a bit cut and paste.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/07/2016 17:55

did have a tear in my eye, poor paul, good acting from bedn tho would he really walk miles, he could get in a cab and pay the other end or reverse charges

tho paul lying down on the table he has enormous nostrils, reminded me of nostrils from made in chelsea

Agree Blondes. Poor Paul in the morgue. It looked awful. And Les and Pam losing their son and now their grandson. It was tough to watch.
