Very well acted tonight I thought. Les sometimes is a bit wooden but I thought he was great tonight. Brought back memories of my own grief.

Curlgurl · 19/07/2016 19:59

Sad sniff sniff

nancy75 · 19/07/2016 20:10

Poor les & pam and Ben Sad

Eminybob · 19/07/2016 21:22

That was hideous. I don't know why I watch EE it's so depressing.

IslaMann · 19/07/2016 21:35

Oh god, when Pam shut Pauls bedroom door and Les just broke down. Heartbreaking. Also the pouring away of the cup of tea, very symbolic of life draining away. Phil and Ian's acting was fantastic too. Yet again EE shows it can do quality.

southeastdweller · 19/07/2016 21:46

I was in tears in that episode. Everyone was great but I thought the scene where Pam was told the bad news by Shirl was brilliantly acted by the lady who plays Pam. She really nailed Pam's denial and confusion Sad

The whole episode was so heartbreakingly believable.

ThornyBird · 19/07/2016 21:50

Oh crying here - it was well done, not OTT like it sometimes is. Far more moving than the Peggy death.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 19/07/2016 22:08

Oh that was so hard to watch. Poor Ben when he talked about Paul as if he was alive and then how devastated he was. Sad

And watching Pam and Les was sooooo difficult. They will really struggle now. Having to ID his body was terrible. I can't imagine anything worse.

When Ben was telling them what had happened, I don't know why but it almost seemed like something wasn't quite right about it. I don't think Ben had anything to do with it but something seemed off. Phil gave a look when Ben said he couldn't take 4 on.

BlueThursday · 19/07/2016 22:58

Couldn't Ben have gotten a cab and have Ian or Phil pay at the other end?

Small detail I know

I liked how it was done tonight though not wild ham acting or wailing

unimagmative13 · 19/07/2016 23:10

Brings back far too many shitty memories for me. Something similar happen in my life I still find it so hard to see the tragic sudden death of a young person.

dingdongdigeridoo · 19/07/2016 23:10

It's weird that Ben walked all the way from Soho to East London, beaten and covered in blood, barely able to see without his glasses, yet nobody tried to help him. Even in London someone would be a good samaritain and give him cab money, or take him to hospital. That was suspicious to me.

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 01:12

Oh just caught up with last weeks and tonights oh my it was so sad really my heart was in my mouth last week it was going so well and then just heartbreaking i thought paul was going to skip off with his mum Sad

EnidButton · 20/07/2016 01:28

I usually watch on iplayer before going to sleep but I think I'll leave it for tonight. It sounds too sad.

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 01:29

It is sad you would blub yourself to sleep

EnidButton · 20/07/2016 01:30

It's tempting. I'll see how I get on...

EnidButton · 20/07/2016 01:31

Not tempting to blob myself to sleep, just to watch..oh you know what I mean.

EnidButton · 20/07/2016 01:31

Blub!

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 01:36

Hehe yes i got what you meant just watch it ill be here for a little while longer if you need a there there

EnidButton · 20/07/2016 02:00
Sad

I take back what I said about Les's acting. I was doing very well until he poured the cup of tea down the sink. That not knowing what to do with yourself when you go home again was very well done. Very sad.

I'm ok though. Agree it was much better done than Peggy.

MrsJayy · 20/07/2016 02:13

It was really well done not that over the top peggy rubbish Poor Ben though

Optimist1 · 20/07/2016 07:01

Excellent acting last night. Ben's description of what happened is strange though - would you really just assume that your partner would make his own way home after such an attack? (I'm seeing this as scriptwriting weakness rather than suspecting Ben is hiding something.)

SheHasAWildHeart · 20/07/2016 07:22

That episode really was EE at it's best, and I found it was the quietness (rather than EE's usual loudness) that made it such a sad and poignant episode. Also though the contrast between the Carter's happiness and the Coker's heartbreak was done well.

I do think there is more to it then Ben is letting on, but I'm not sure what.

AndYourBirdCanSing · 20/07/2016 08:10

Yes, me too. Also, he's a Mitchell aint he. They don't seem to have the same reactions as the rest of us! I would have gone to a police station myself.

Excellent acting from them all, especially Ben and Pam. Heartbreaking Sad

Jasonandyawegunorts · 20/07/2016 08:22

That was really good, They made a very wise choice limiting what Les did to denial and sad, his actor can do that.

MissBattleaxe · 20/07/2016 08:23

When Les quietly poured the tea away I thought it was very powerful. Far better then the usual soap rage/smash a framed photo grief.
