Barbara

On PC there were muted boos and mutterings.

I don't think even with the really awful "look, kids help me, love me, PLEASE" thing, the crowd like him.

Which is good, cos during matches it pisses him off.

CremeEggThief · 03/06/2016 16:07

Novak is unpleasant and does not show respect for the rules and the history of tennis, Going. I've had it in for him since he retired in the semi finals of Wimbledon against Rafa in 2007; followed by a quarter final retirement against Roddick in Australia. The way he treats ball boys/girls is appalling.

CremeEggThief · 03/06/2016 16:09

Stunning backhand there from Stan. Glad he's raised his level of playagain.

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:10

That too, Creme.

Novak is certainly the contender for Most Unpopular potential goat (small letters).

He is the epitome of unsporting sportsmanship, if you look at his attitude and behaviour on and off court over his career.

Goingtobeawesome · 03/06/2016 16:14

I have seen Novak throw towels at the ball children and thought it was rude. Then I thought I was being a bit precious and he was trying to save time.

I need Andy to win quick so I can feed the kids and animals

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:17

See ?! Trust me, he'll never be GOAT but he's most definitely a TWAT.

Andy, stay in. Last thing you need is more time on court right now.

GrouchyKiwi · 03/06/2016 16:21

So the goat as opposed to the GOAT (which is Federer, imo, if there must be one).

The ball kid thing Djokovic does has me rolling my eyes big time.

Nice to see Stan putting up a bit of a fight again.

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:22

He's rude to most people in general, I think Going.

The ball-kid thing, the applauding with the racket etc, the 'Djokovic the Joker' - its all an act.

The commentators were saying earlier, Roger and Rafa have such a huge fan base, that basically he and Andy were kind of fighting for fans. I don't actually agree with that but I do think they're right that it massively bothers him that still more people prefer Roger and Rafa to him.

CremeEggThief · 03/06/2016 16:28

Yes, he has a MASSIVE chip on his shoulder about his lack of popularity, compared to Fed and Rafa. Pleased that this match is staying competitive. Fair play to Stan for the 3Rd. I really am on borrowed time (battery at 1%!), so adieu for now!

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:28

In my eyes he wont even be a goat.

I think its bloomin hard to call between Roger and Rafa actually. I know Roger has the more Slams, which does make Roger the GOAT overall, I guess.

I suppose perhaps some of what you consider to be the GOAT is personal, whether you like their style of play, their behaviour etc...

I just honestly don't think in Clay terms Novak, or anyone can be compared to Rafa. Those 9 wins are an amazing achievement.

It really annoys me that if Novak does win it, even just the once, he's considered a GOAT, as if Roger and Rafa's repeated wins mean nothing.

NoBarbaraGood · 03/06/2016 16:29

(sittin' on the Roger bench with Grouchy)

I'm not really bothered about the GOAT debate so long as it's between Roger and Rafa. Add Novak to the mix, and I'm gonna have issues.

Nope, no way, Nole.

Who's the cute little kid watching the Andy/Stan match holding the snowman dolly? They've shown him a bunch of times.

C'mon Andy ... break.

CremeEggThief · 03/06/2016 16:34

The GOAT of men's tennis is Rod Laver, IMO. 2 Grand Slams and 5 or 6 years where he couldn't play backs that up for me. In the modern era, it's Roger, on every surface apart from clay, where it's Rafa. Roger plays the most beautiful tennis I've ever seen, but as we all know, there is more to tennis than that.

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:37

I'm just glad we all mostly agree its not Novak.

Warmed my cockles on what here is a dull, dismal thick cloudy cold day. Smile

Its like bloomin October, not June.

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:39

Oooh, Stan's found some fight ! He's playing MUCH better. Can see a glimpse of how he won last year.

I don't mind who wins this one. Just beat Novak next !

CremeEggThief · 03/06/2016 16:44

Have to love the fact that Murray has gone back to his roots with all the drop shots, now he doesn't have a coach! Reminds me a lot of how he played 8-10 years ago, although obviously, more skilful. A bit of an "up yours" to all the coaches who've tried to drum it out of him?

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:47

Creme

Are you staying ?! Grin

Lots of them have taken to using drop shots again recently.

Lazy play, cheap point. Wink

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:49

I'm still taking it in that Jonny Mac is coaching Milos.

Most unlikely set up, I thought. Would have envisaged him more with a player like Andy.

Raahh · 03/06/2016 16:51

What, an equally rude one, MrsV?Wink.

CremeEggThief · 03/06/2016 16:55

I'm on my phone!Smile

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:56

Yy, Raahh. Grin

Creme Yay ! Smile

CremeEggThief · 03/06/2016 16:56

I would have thought Mac would prefer to coach someone like Kyrgios.

CremeEggThief · 03/06/2016 16:57

Stan looks defeated.

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:57

Murray Wins !

COME ON ANDY !

ANYONE BUT DJOKOVIC.

MrsVamos · 03/06/2016 16:58

I reckon Andy's gonna win on Sunday, you know.

I've got a feeling.

GrouchyKiwi · 03/06/2016 16:59

Good stuff, Andy.

Stan did look defeated in that last set.
