Arden estate in Glasgow. Colin and Justin have 1 month to.... etc etc

When they arrived in their Mini Cooper they looked terrified. I was bricking it just looking at the TV.

What a sheltered life i lead.

Erm 'not'so choosyfloosy, do you not think that they may have a look of disgust on their faces at the idea of 'doing' a woman. It would hardly be inspiring.

choosyfloosy · 11/01/2007 20:17

i suppose i'm imagining them getting on with it and me...

PMSL I know Arden and yes dont be fooled by them they can handle it

dressedupnowheretogo · 11/01/2007 20:40

do people really have to live like that

kimi · 11/01/2007 20:51

why on earth are they bothering with somewhere like that.
Most of the people there are responsible for the state of their living accommodation and choose to live in filth.
Waste of time money and effort.

DS1 was gobsmacked that people live like that and DS2 could not believe people wee in the stairwell

Feel i need a good wash just watching it uuugggghhhhhh

LieselVentouse · 11/01/2007 20:54

I was hoping there was a thread on this, watching it now and shocked because

a.) Are you allowed to say fuck right off before the watershed?
b.) Attitude of the Housing Association

Im loving this, the attitudes are shocking and Colin and Juston are right

LieselVentouse · 11/01/2007 20:59

There are also people in Arden though that have no choice to be there - they are pensioners and have to live like this and as Colin says it is wrong, anyway is this to be continued or was that it? What happened

AitchTwoOhOhSeven · 11/01/2007 21:01

the guy that said justin should be committed was my pal peter...

Carmenere · 11/01/2007 21:04

I used to live in a high rise ex council flat on an estate in London. It was a relatively settled block, lots of families and older people who had been there for years. It was really quite an ok place to live considering it was a tower block. BUT someone used to regularly piss and crap in the lifts!!It was disgusting and I have no idea who or why but it seems to be endemic in these tower blocks, bleaugh. I feel sorry for people who have to live in places like that.

dressedupnowheretogo · 11/01/2007 21:04

its on next week

and im sorry its always the minority thar ruin things like this place gets a bad name and everyonme moves away and forgets about the people that cant afford to leave

i agree ha attitude was shit i hope i nver have to deal with them

kimi · 11/01/2007 21:10

why are we the only species that takes delight in wrecking its enviroument?

Still did put the fear of god in to my kids, that if they dont work hard at school and in life they could end up in a shithole like that

NDPWillSpendLessTimeHereIn2007 · 12/01/2007 13:08

DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW IF IT WAS SUCCESS OR NOT!

I was horrified at the state in which the Housing Association hand these properties over . Not just the cosmetic stuff, although that was shocking enough. Those buildings were wracked with rot, they were crumbling. If you were 'housed' in that would you be inspired to make a change ? Could you afford to ?

I'm not at all surprised that there is a ghetto culture of vandalism there. Families are dumped in these shithole buildings and forgotten about by the HA. It's not a huge shock that they become resentful and angry, is it ? It's not like they were housed in an idyll and then wrecked it, most people living there they were housed there after the decline had taken hold.

Is this programme going to be repeated?.. I started watching it, then the phone went and it had finished by the time I got back

NDPWillSpendLessTimeHereIn2007 · 12/01/2007 21:57

No but it was the first of 4 one hour progs

expatinscotland · 12/01/2007 22:02

Saw it yesterday.

Not at all surprised.

Edinburgh tenants voted down turning over the housing stock to an association, b/c of the failures in Glasgow.

Of course, the council was pissed.

The Executive was going to write off its £300m of debt.
