That park is dangerous, how many people are attacked there?

MrsJayy · 28/04/2016 08:46

It is everybody over the age of 18 ends up in a heap

southeastdweller · 28/04/2016 08:49

It's not about demanding to know what she was doing, but he admitted he never even asked her once in two months about what she did all day!

LagerthaSilverHair · 28/04/2016 08:55

I think the Jay, Linzi storyline is quite frightening. I kept asking myself what could Jay have done to prevent this? Yes, asked her age but she could have easily lied.

What could he have done to stop the photos? Blocked her number - but he didn't know to, at the time.

Yes, she is a vulnerable young girl but the consequences of her actions are very serious. I think it is good EE has had this storyline (Scott and Bailey had a similar one too but it was a 16 year old girl and her 15 yea old boyfriend who were in the same year a school.) I think our society needs to work out how this can be prevented. Teens have phones that can send pictures - I think back to when I was a teenager, there were girls who had older boyfriends at 15. At the time, unless there was a big age difference, we didn't think much of it. If there were camera phones then there probably would have been a lot of trouble like this too.

MagpieCursedTea · 28/04/2016 08:56

I do think there's a middle ground between demanding to know what someone does all the time and not asking at all.
Linzi said that she sent the photos because she thought that's what she had to do to make him like her. She's a vulnerable child and she may not be a victim in the sense of Jay setting out to abuse her but she's still the victim in the case.

LagerthaSilverHair · 28/04/2016 08:59

I think they in reality are both victims, although legally she is the victim. This is what makes the story upsetting.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 28/04/2016 09:03

I thought Mick was a bit of a hypocrite saying Jay was guilty because he pleaded guilty, when he himself pleaded guilty to curb crawling when he covered for Ian a few years ago.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 28/04/2016 09:03

It's tricky. I do like the way Jay pleaded guilty as technically he was. It's hard to imagine going out with someone for months though and not asking what age they are/when their birthday is/what they do for a job etc. Would have been more plausible if he'd asked and she'd lied but I think the story is more uncomfortable this way.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 28/04/2016 09:05

considering all the dodgy stuff Square residents have gotten up to in the past Sinister I thought it was a bit much from Mick too!

MrsJayy · 28/04/2016 09:06

I had a 19yr old boyfriend at 14 we didnt have intercourse but did other stuff nobody batted an eye not 1 person said to him oiy shes a kid quite frightening really and at 14 you think you are oh so mature and grown up.

mrswhiplington · 28/04/2016 09:14

Did anyone else notice when Richie came to the Mitchell's to talk about Jay Phil wasn't on the settee, but in the next scene he was lay on it and Sharon mentioned the condom on the table. It seems like they got the scenes back to front.

Sonia and Tina are getting really tedious now. That scene in the restaurant about the stolen money! Really. They don't seem to have a proper role in the show at all. Totally embarrassing.

SheHasAWildHeart · 28/04/2016 09:19

I did fast forward a lot of the Tina stuff yesterday but it was reminding me so much of Syed and Christian. The first time they both got together they were serving food at an event, both wearing white, then Christian did a speech in front of everyone at the event, then him & Syed snogged in the kitchen - all like Tina and that girl yesterday.

Sharon is really annoying me. Why when something happens can't she handle it without running to Phil? She really is a pathetic weak woman.

Also why do young men like Ben & Jay still with their parents and allow themselves to be bullied, emotionally & physically? Between them and Paul am sure they could afford to house-share somewhere. Really annoying.

Lastly :) Honey always looks so clean and pretty, why is her house so grotty?

MagpieCursedTea · 28/04/2016 09:20

I thought it was weird how Jay was left after he was attacked then he was shown in his next scene showing up at the Garage. I thought he'd gone straight there but then Ben later said Jay had spent the night in A&E. I'm guessing the bit with him on the ground was originally the end of the episode? Then it went into the next day/episode?
Maybe that's why the bit with Phil on the sofa looked badly edited too. They never intended it to be one episode?

SoupDragon · 28/04/2016 09:23

That's why I've no sympathy for him,

What has he actually done wrong? The very second he found out he broke up,melted the photos and cut contact. Immediately with absolutely no hesitation. He immediately told Louise to stop kissing him because she was a child.

Because nothing happened, Jay is the victim not Star. Having said that, Star isn't guilty of anything other than being a 14 year old. This should never have gone to court and the only reason it has is because of Bex and the fact that no one has talked to Star or Jay and listened to what they have to say. IMO, what should have happened is for the two of them to be told to stay away from each other and a lecture about not sending photos - that's what I would have done if I was Star's mother and was satisfied that nothing had happened and that Jay had not lead her on.

LemonBreeland · 28/04/2016 09:23

Although the court case has been done quickly they are obviously going to drag out the repercussions of this on Jay for some time. I hope it is done sensitively.

I like the thoughts on Denise pregnant or menopause. I wonder which way they will take it.

I was laughing last night at Johnny catching up on all his law work at the end of the bar in a busy pub, because that is the obvious place to study isn't it.

SoupDragon · 28/04/2016 09:24

It would have been interesting for the story to have been done with an adult female and a 14 year old boy.

SoupDragon · 28/04/2016 09:25

Between them and Paul am sure they could afford to house-share somewhere.

Possibly not in London. 2 mechanics and a... What is Paul now?

MrsJayy · 28/04/2016 09:38

New johnny is duller than old Johnny he has been at the Lee school of acting

MrsJayy · 28/04/2016 09:40

Paul is florist /funeral director he does dead lady hair and make up too

dailyfailrag · 28/04/2016 09:52

The Facebook group is horrific at the moment. Loads of people calling Star names and going on about how young girls are liars and manipulators. I don't think that's what they wanted to achieve with these episodes.

Someone made a good point though. Why is Louise allowed to live with Phil? He almost killed her, yet social services don't seem to give a shit.

Will Jay be allowed to stay with Billy and Honey since they have kids? I have a feeling things will get worse for him.

LemonBreeland · 28/04/2016 10:06

Interesting point dailyfail. Will someone call SS and Honey and Billy will be told they can't have a RSO in the house with children? I think this is going to go on for a long time. I fell sorry for the actor as there are always people who don't get the difference between real life and soaps, so he is probably going to get grief for this.

harverina · 28/04/2016 10:25

I was thinking the same about Jay being allowed to stay with Billy and the kids. It probably wouldn't be allowed and I'm sure it will be the next kick in the teeth for Jay this week when he realises he really has nowhere to go.

Maybe Jack will let them have a flat. After all he said that Ronnys family were his family this week! Though does he know what Phil pretty much ruined Max?!

I felt sad for Jay last night and think the actor was brilliant. He genuinely hasn't don't anything harmful which I think makes it hard to see. He should have told someone about a Linzi's real age as soon as he found out - but I assume he was ashamed and embarrassed.

Abbbinob · 28/04/2016 10:25

Ah poor jay. poor linzi/star
I really like jay, although i agree in real life it would be borderline impossible to date a 14 year old for a few months and have no idea of their age, I could believe a one night stand then find out she's 14 thing, but a relationship is a bit far fetched. Also in real life you'd jsut look her up on facebook and realise all her friends are children

SoupDragon · 28/04/2016 10:26

She gave a false name though.

SheHasAWildHeart · 28/04/2016 10:29

Genuine question - Jay is RSO for the photos. Star sent him the photos, he deleted them when he found out she was 14. The judge said he was sure that Jay was telling the truth that he didn't know her age. Does that mean if some under 16 wants to mess with someone's life they can send them photos even if the other person doesn't ask for them and immediately deletes them - then that person can go on the register for 5 years? I'm not saying that this is what Star did, am just asking hypothetically.
I think the storyline is going to be more about the repercussions for Jay. No way can he get another job now. and he will be ostracised by others in the Square.

New Johnny - he makes me laugh. He seems so out of place.
