Love the monarchy

Me too, I'm going to have to miss the second half though.

Hepzibar · 27/03/2016 20:15

That portrait in Westminster Abbey! Very moving

I'm enjoying it apart from the Yorks and seeing Charles wearing his medals. Unless they were earned for growing veg because they were certainly weren't earned for heroism.

EssentialHummus · 27/03/2016 21:38

I'm enjoying it very much, but blimey Beatrice and Eugenie are coming across as dim. Anyone else, or just me?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/03/2016 21:40

No, I agree. They are just like their father. Dim and desperate to be important.

Hepzibar · 27/03/2016 21:55

Andrew just cannot stop being pompous.

Bea and Eugenie look like they are trying too hard. Sad.

I'm enjoying it but kate M has some sticky up bits of hair which is really getting on my nerves. I really like her but just keep wondering why nobody smoothed it down!!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/03/2016 21:58

That's just it - trying too hard. Andrew is an embarrassment.

Kate is very nervous.

Charles needs to get over himself.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/03/2016 21:58

Sophie came across very well I thought. Relaxed.

Hepzibar · 27/03/2016 22:00

Camilla and Sophie seem quite genuine.

William and Harry quite ordinary?

Kate scared to say the wrong thing.

OP posts:
Peaceandloveeveryone · 27/03/2016 22:02

I was hoping that there would be a thread on this- Andrew came across exactly as described in the media, very arrogant and full of himself.

Terribleknitter · 27/03/2016 22:24

I'm liking Camilla and Sophie, but Kate looks really uncomfortable. The Queen is coming over very well, she reminds me of my Grandma in a way, they're the same age and have that 'just getting on with it' attitude.

toofunny · 27/03/2016 22:30

Most people want rid of the monarchy now, so there will be lots of propaganda like this. Their life of luxury is paid for by you and your ancestors.

Terribleknitter · 27/03/2016 22:30

Ooh a friend of mine went to one of the garden parties last year and met Camilla and Charles, she became a huge fan of both! I'd love to go to one of those.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/03/2016 22:36

You are probably right, Hepzibar, she is probably terrified of saying the wrong thing.

Shortandsweet20 · 27/03/2016 22:48

I'm so sad I missed this. Does anyone know when/if it will be repeated?

PiperChapstick · 27/03/2016 23:05

I'm enjoying it but kate M has some sticky up bits of hair which is really getting on my nerves. I really like her but just keep wondering why nobody smoothed it down!!

Oh this annoyed me too!

I'm was dying for someone to say something like "she can be a right mardy bitch" Grin

Chipstick10 · 27/03/2016 23:15

I thought Andrews daughters were very sweet and totes emosh when talking about their grandad.
Liked Peter Philips, seems very ordinary.
Kate's plummy voice drives me insane.
Sophie is nice

LizKeen · 28/03/2016 01:06

I feel sorry for Kate after that.

Sophie was so calm and relaxed, but Kate is clearly feeling the pressure massively. Very nervous, visibly reigning herself in, desperate to not say anything wrong. The accent is put on and comes across as a struggle.

I really like her, and I don't like the bad press she gets. Yes she knew what she was getting herself into, but I guess the reality is something else.

Beatrice and Eugenie annoyed me at first, but I had warmed to them by the end.

mrsmeerkat · 28/03/2016 01:13

I do like Kate (Bra and Eugenie are a bit panto like) but I feel Kate is struggling and really not a natural at all of this.

MozzchopsThirty · 28/03/2016 02:05

I turned over when some bloke was saying the paperwork 'is really really hard work for the queen' Hmm
Fucking hard work my arse, try working a 12 hour shift in a busy ITU that's hard!!'
Paramedics working like dogs that's hard
Junior doctors working silly hours for a pay cut, that's hard

Filling in papers IS NOT HARD WORK it might be time consuming, or boring or tiring but hard work it is not

LizKeen · 28/03/2016 02:39

Well she is 90...she should have retired over 20 years ago.

For a 90 year old her job seems excessive to me.

Kirriemuir · 28/03/2016 13:50

I watched bits of it. Kate seemed really uncomfortable but this was last year so the baby couldn't have been that old surely? Her accent did sound put on.

She is 90 but hardly had to work hard in terms of general life has she? That may be sounds horrid, possibly is but she has staff, cleaners, cooks, dressers. Her life isn't the same as any one of us who may still be working at 90, even at 70.

She can retire whenever she wants to. I don't find any of it excessive other than the luxury lifestyle she has.

EssentialHummus · 28/03/2016 14:22

To me, Kate sounded like she was talking about someone she didn't know very well. It's the sort of thing I'd say about Bob from Accounts - "Well he was always so thoughtful and put out that chutney he got as a present..." Got me thinking about how much time she actually spends with the Queen / how much interaction they have.

starry0ne · 28/03/2016 14:28

Well I love the Royal Family..

I think the queen is remarkable...

Kate did come across as really nervous..
