Doctor Thorne, ITV Sunday night

Anyone else excited about this? I'm torn between delight and dread, because I am a huge Trollope fan and love this book. Can Julian Fellowes convey the subtleties of the relationships? The degrees of snobbishness? Will we see the Honourable Johns and Georges? Miss Dunstable has been turned into an American - will this work?

Dr Thorne himself reminds me of my long-dead dad (a GP), so has a lot to live up to!

That scene between Lady Arabella and the doctor is absolutely classic, he is a complete star. That adaptation was pathetic!

I'm really enjoying this, but then I've never read the book which seems to be an advantage if this thread is anything to go by. It's not Pride and Prejudice, but it is perfect Sunday night viewing.

I really hope people are enjoying it! It's always a problem when one of your favourite authors is dramatised.

I cant watch it, the music is pissing me off.

In walks chubby man...use tuba and do oompa sounds, its like watching 'Mr Men' the musical!

Oh dear floppyjogger I HATE the way music is used more and more in everything now it bloody pisses me off too. Grin

I read the book quite a while ago . Haven't started looking at this , is it worth it? I love sumptuous costumes etc, though.
