Wednesday's 9pm BBC2. I watched this on Catch Up tonight and thought it was really good. Anyone else?

Yes, agree it was excellent.

It's on right now. The daughter would drive me mad. The brother is so naive. What a spoilt brat.

Looks like it all goes pear shaped next week from the trailer

Watched the first episode on catch up. Interesting enough story line so I might watch the second episode tomorrow.

I can't help thinking Katie Leung's acting is a bit wooden in this. Her emotions do not seem natural enough.

I'm watching this - I think it's excellent, and it's filling the gap left by the end of Deutschland 83. A lot of the themes are similar, naive young people caught up in events beyond their understanding. I can't make up my mind what I think about Pan Qianyi. Why is she so involved with the case? Is she genuinely a humanitarian, or is she out for some kind of personal gain or prestige, and being manipulative?

Debbrianabottomburp · 29/02/2016 18:16

The escalation from not knowing the family to putting her life at risk seems a bit far fetch for me. In real life I don't know anyone who would do that. She just seems to involved in a world she has no idea in. Treating a brother you never knew existed like you knew him from Adam is a bit strange. The parents spending their only savings to save a man they have never met or heard off before their daughter had even mentioned him.
If all of this is true and I was the parents, it would make me wonder if that child loved me or they were waiting for some miraculous family to come along and whisk them away.

I think it's not her brother or mother and she is being used to get him out of prison. Probably totally wrong Blush

I feel so bad for Mei in the second episode, she put all her trust in this private detective, who sprung up from nowhere but he's already shown to be unethical.

There is a short clip for the next episode on the BBC iplayer website and it looks as if she'll take matters in her own hands, but she's playing a very dangerous game.

I think you and I are telly twins Mornington.

Thought Ep1 was engaging but I think it'll gain pace. The brother's wide eyed naïveté is endearing and I don't have a good feeling about the translator lady.

My baby is now cluster feeding between 11pm and 3am so gonna watch Ep2 on catch up later this evening.

CeeBeeBee · 01/03/2016 22:51

I fear there is going to be a horrible twist. Surely the private detective already knew what the outcome would be?

I expected a twist too but I still enjoyed it. I'm surprised she didn't tell the translator woman and her friends to eff off. The execution was brilliantly done.

SPOILER ALERT

Just watched it, god the execution scene... I had to look away. Really upsetting.
