Did anyone else see this last night.

Apart from being hugely, hugely funny - have not laughed so much in ages - I was rather taken with Noel Fielding.

He was partnered to Russel Brand and both had a distinctive Goth thing going on. I thought he was a member of some goth band etc.

But find after a google that he is actually a stand up comic!

Has anyone seen him live or know if he's on the telly. He and Russell made a great double act and he was rather kind on the eye too!

Sorry post-preg hormones araging - dont tell DH

he does the mighty boosh (though i've never seen it) i laughed so much at that last night, david walliams is such a plank

Miaou · 28/12/2006 20:36

Aren't they both members of The Mighty Boosh (sp?)

BaileysMilkshake · 28/12/2006 20:41

I think last nights show was brilliant. I love a good laugh and DH enjoyed it too - very rare we laugh at the same stuff.
Loved Russell Brand's comment after David Walliams and Boy George had a dig at each other!

What is the Mighty Boosh?

Noel Fielding is one half of the mighty boosh. Series one and two have been on BBC3 and more recently series two was repeated on BBC2. The also did a live tour earlier this year (which I saw twice ) and the DVD of this and the two series are available. Also the cd of the radio series is out.

Very funny, very odd and surreal. I think you either love it or hate it.

NOel also appeared in one episode of the IT Crowd (as a vampire type character who works in a cupboard at the back).

here is their BBC page - claims to have clips.

southeastastra · 28/12/2006 20:44

ahh i loved noel as the vampire! he's certainly unique!

TheArmadillo · 29/12/2006 00:10

Just seen this repeated.

David Walliams is a complete tosser (though I had suspected this) and I felt sorry for Rob BRydon.

Cat Deeley is a shame to women the world over - her only role seeming to be telling the men how funny they were.

Noel actually made me think Russel Brand was funny for the first time ever !

Jimmy Carr was slightly less annoying than usual some of the time.

And Jonathan Ross was, well, Jonathan Ross.

David Walliams is a tosser (sorry so much so I had to repeat it).

LIked it though

ledodgychristmasjumper · 29/12/2006 00:11

I thought this was hilarious and one of the best things on tv this christmas.

TheArmadillo · 29/12/2006 00:13

you're definately right. I ahve watched three things this christmas - this, the Hogfather and Dr Who - all very good.

Thankfully have managed to avoid all the crap.

sockmonkey · 29/12/2006 08:39

I have only watched half of it, got the other half recorded to wacth later. I thought it was very funny too.
I loved the goth team... very surreal. DH has the Mighty Boosh on DVD which I have avoided watching, but might give it a go now

beansprout · 29/12/2006 08:47

I didn't like this very much. It had the makings of a good programme, with a good line up but it was just flabby, not that funny and in severe need of editing. Last year's programme had the Walliams-irritating-Brydon routine too and it wasn't that funny then.

Shame.

9BeetrootsDancing · 29/12/2006 08:51

NOOOOO

David Walliams was 'acting' the tosser - brilliantly I thought he was having a laugh in his deadpan way. He was partnered with rob Brydon deliberately.

Walliams and Brand a big drinking buddies

beansprout · 29/12/2006 08:52

Not sure about that - Russell Brand is tee total.

trying2bgood · 29/12/2006 09:15

agree with 9beets about David, he was putting it on! Saw a documentary about him when he did the swimming, lol, and he was very warm and funny! Also Matt seems lovely and I don't think he would be such good friends with a tosser!

Someone had to play the straight guys, as there were a lot of 'funny' egos out there!

9BeetrootsDancing · 29/12/2006 09:17

he may be but he stil goes out!!!!

DingdongMegaLegsonhigh · 29/12/2006 09:20

My sisters love The Mighty Boosh and saw it live. They lent me a DVD but I didn't really get it.
I loved Noel Feilding and Russel Brand together and thought it was hysterical, esp when they hid under the desk to avoid the Boy George thing.
David Walliams just reminded me of my dad playing any game ever!

princessJINGLEmelS · 29/12/2006 09:23

I thought Cat Deeley was awful too. Very fake and grinny with lots of hair swishing.

I also found Russel Brand funny for the first time ever Armadillo.

Carmenere · 29/12/2006 09:29

I liked it, Walliams was definitely acting the tosser and Brand and the Boosh guy were funny because of the context of the show, I don't particularly like their individual acts, but then I suppose they are not aimed at middleaged women

BaileysMilkshake · 29/12/2006 09:31

I agree Russell Brand was good on this, cant stand him on anything else!

OP posts:
emsiewill · 29/12/2006 10:03

I cannot stand Cat Deeley.

Apart from that I thought this was really funny, and loved David Walliams acting the "competitive Dad"

DimpledThighs · 29/12/2006 10:48

oh david walliams was acting the wanker - I thouhgt him playing it straight and taking it seriously was inspired - he saw that was what the quiz needed - esp. as there were lots of people being very funny (goth team) or trying to be funny (ross). Waliiams kind of took the piss out of it without it turning into lots of comedy and no one bothering about the quiz. If you think about it he kept it all together otherwise the quiz would not matter at all.

Piffle · 29/12/2006 10:53

We also nearly wet ourselves, we loved it.
It was the brusque manner that Walliams had that made the Brand humour so delectably hysterical
Classy casting thought Wossy was also very fabulous.

Piffle · 29/12/2006 10:54

DW and Boy George fell out seriously some time ago as DW accused BG of not being a good example of a gay man
I beleive a wee feud has developed since then.

DimpledThighs · 29/12/2006 11:00

what happened on the boy george dw bit? I was in the kitchen and sounds like I missed the best bit of the show!

DimpledThighs · 29/12/2006 19:28

I will have to hunt down a repeat unless someone fess up!

TheArmadillo · 29/12/2006 19:34

repeated tommorrow on channel 4 at 10.40.

Boy George came on to ask bonus question. He said to David 'was Matt's wedding good?' or something similar and David said 'yeah cos you weren't there'.

BG was being nice, DW was being bitchy.
