They're in a bridal shop.

'Can I get a drink?'

'Go to the petrol station'.

I'm just watching this on 4+1 and Janet is coming across as a really selfish person.

Pipbin · 06/01/2016 21:55

I'm on +1.

I thought that the transvestite comment was dreadful in the first place before he said he was trans.

Pipbin · 06/01/2016 21:57

Sad to hear that Ark.
There is no helping some people.

NiceAcorns · 06/01/2016 22:04

I'm a local too, it's a great location. So disappointed it's going back downhill

Arkkorox · 06/01/2016 22:09

Wish someone would sort out the pet shop round the corner too!

SoleBizzz · 06/01/2016 22:19

I love Mary Portas. I'm looking forward to watching next week's episode featuring the hairdressers.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 06/01/2016 22:25

I switched on half way through. Was amazed at the transformation and how good Linda was. Then I googled and you still get through to 'Maureen's' Confused

There really is no helping some people Sad
The revamp looked good, the bride in the shop was lovely and the dress she had on was gorgeous.

Unfortunately though, I have to say they really didn't look or behave like the kind of people to front a business.

What a shame.

Nonidentifyingnc · 06/01/2016 22:36

What on earth possesses people to set up a business when they clearly know jack shit about how to run one?

Imo, they don't deserve to be successful - they didn't even know how to buy decent stock. Utterly clueless!

If I was a customer, I wouldn't give a shit what he was wearing in the shop, but I would expect nice stock and a good shopping experience.

SoleBizzz · 06/01/2016 22:38

All that debt.

mrsmeerkat · 06/01/2016 22:44

No way would I buy my dress there. I couldn't believe how she behaved on the train. What a brilliant experience and I totally love Mary. She's so sharp but kind with it so you have to take her advice on board.

You don't need emotional crap when you are enjoying a happy occassion in your life. Plenty of crappy times without forking out a grand to put up with nonsense.

Tinklebinkle · 06/01/2016 22:46

Those pair annoyed me so much. Waste of an opportunity. I am so looking forward to the hairdresser show but mainly so I can get furious on behalf of the bullied staff. It is going to be a corker. I reckon Mary will kick ass, big time. Will there be a thread? Grin

NameChanger22 · 06/01/2016 22:52

I liked the couple. I thought the scene on the train was very funny and endearing. Mary Portas did a great job trying to sort them out, but you can't help some people. I still really liked them though, it would be fun to work for them.

Chippednailvarnish · 06/01/2016 23:04

Actually I think it would be a nightmare to work for them!

Nonidentifyingnc · 06/01/2016 23:05

Well, until they sack you and then have to rehire you because they know fuck all about running their own business!

OverScentedFanjo · 07/01/2016 09:32

It was great TV. But in reality she should be running a made to measure curtain shop. She'd be great at that. But not Bridal.

I love Mary, she is so direct and very kind. I bet that was a corker to film. Imagine what they had to edit!

RedMapleLeaf · 07/01/2016 17:33

I don't know quite how to word this, but it just seemed a very difficult situation with the woman being quite a strong character but lacking education and social graces. I think that this really came out on the train, where she retreated to the behaviour that comforts her. She really seemed to not see that the journey was about the customers' experience and not hers.

The man looked great with a good haircut I thought.

absolutelynotfabulous · 07/01/2016 20:52

Great telly thoughGrin. Poor Mary's really got her work cut out with this pair!

She's so kind, though..

RebootYourEngine · 10/01/2016 09:36

Im glad the programme is back.

I know it is bad to judge but that womans teeth really distracted me. They looked like comedy teeth. Something david walliams or harry enfield would wear on a sketch show.

foxessocks · 20/01/2016 20:15

Anyone watching this tonight? These guys in the DIY shop are essentially sexist homophobic racists and I think I'd just turn the car around and say "no I'm not helping them!" Makes for good telly though and I know Mary won't take their shit. Glad his toes were curling so they bloody well should be.

ChessieFL · 20/01/2016 20:20

I am watching but I missed the first 10 minutes. I do wonder why these businesses apply to Mary's programme if they don't want to listen to what she's got to say!

foxessocks · 20/01/2016 20:24

The first ten minutes was shocking! I'm sure they'll replay the comments they made to people.

I'm enjoying watch them squirm in this shop!

BobandKate0 · 20/01/2016 20:57

i'm a bit confused at mary suggesting they sell gold plated dust pans - doesn't she know the people in the million pound flats hire cleaners to do the housework ?
tidy up by all means, but didn't like the mess outside the front window - bag it all up out of sight or put the rubbish the van.
Felt a bit staged.

foxessocks · 20/01/2016 21:02

Yeah she does come out with some strange suggestions sometimes! I think she just wanted them to sell more higher priced items with bigger margins.

OverScentedFanjo · 27/01/2016 20:39

Strange one tonight

Savagebeauty · 27/01/2016 20:41

Didn't see this thread. Just started one Blush
He's such hard work
