Anyone else put it on series record?

DH said, "You can tell it's January when deluded escapism is back on!"

I love it, but have no intention of ever moving to Oz.

Rooftop I felt sorry for the Mum, especially when they all said how much they loved Towoomba, and then she said she had found it hard to make friends.
The children all seemed happy there and now they have to start again in Gold Coast.

TheFridgePickersKnickers · 24/02/2016 13:11

The mum seemed really down throughout the whole programme though. Right from the start she seemed rather lifeless and dead behind the eyes. She didn't Eminate much joy in the UK even before the move to Australia.

I wondered about his son too.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 24/02/2016 13:12

If you thought yesterday's was joyless, I really wouldn't recommend that you watch today's programme.

TheFridgePickersKnickers · 24/02/2016 14:06

I'm waiting to see the revisited episode of one from last year that has stuck on my mind.
Miserable bloke. Looked like he didn't want to be on TV let alone emigrate. He just stood and sneered at everything from start to finish - he wasn't even open to considering emigration. It was hilarious to watch. I normally feel a bit sorry for the person who is trying to be persuaded but this man was just blatantly not ever going to consider it.

Today's woman said what a lonely existence she led in Scotla. Are people in Scotland really that unfriendly? Then she talked about having a baby and no- one visiting her in hospital, but surely he had family.
I wonder if her depression is more than just homesickness.

DrE678 · 24/02/2016 14:35

I tuned in today after a night shift for the first time in ages. That poor woman, she looked so defeated and depressed. It did look like much more than homesickness. I hope she finds some happiness. I somehow suspect they won't be moving any time soon.

bornwithaplasticspoon · 24/02/2016 14:43

The poor lady today, she looked so utterly sad and deflated. I really hope they manage to make the move soon but I think the husband's heart isn't in it enough to make the leap unless everything is neatly tied up first- understandable but sometimes you need a step backwards before you can move forwards.

LIZS · 24/02/2016 14:45

Today's was rather sad. He seemed to lack the confidence to make the move. The family ties didn't seem as important to him now. I thought she was very controlled considering how emotional her life must have been.

MaynJune · 24/02/2016 15:47

I remember the first programme. She gave the impression that she had no-one in Scotland, but then the husband's mother and sister appeared and seemed very nice. I think I recognise where she lives and although it's a small place it's nice and there are families with children around. I'd be very surprised if she couldn't make friends. She seems very depressed and not in a fit state to see any positives.
They seem equally determined and I suppose there's no compromise really.

TheFridgePickersKnickers · 24/02/2016 16:06

Just watched todays. I suspect even if he'd had that job offer he would have found a reason not to go.
Really felt for her. I recall the original programme too and I'm sure it was mentioned that he always knew she didn't want to stay in the UK indefinitely and he said but he didn't give much thought at the time.
Really feel for her actually. She's been upfront from the very start of their relationship. Poor poor woman.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 24/02/2016 16:58

To be fair he did give in and they were all set to go if he had been appointed to the job he was interviewed for, which they thought was a sure thing. Everything would've been different if that'd been secured.

They had a kick in the teeth when that didn't come off and more emotional issues following her later miscarriage. They've obviously had a tough time and then the joy of another new baby, but she seemed to dwell on not having her relatives around her and he feels increased responsibilities on his shoulders again.

I'm afraid that from what we saw, although I was sympathetic to her distress, I felt less kindly about the dilemma than people here. I heard an awful lot of 'I' and hardly any 'We'. I was left feeling that she'd probably exhausted friendships here to be frank. I felt most sorry for their elder daughter Sad

I don't think Andrew's at all unreasonable not to want to go without a secure job, otherwise they could be in the same situation as yesterday's family and end up the other side of the country from Leah's relatives, which probably wouldn't make her happy either.

They have so many couples who don't seem to get things worked out between them and sadly don't end up on the same page, but I suppose that's the kind of drama the programme likes Confused

LarrytheCucumber · 25/02/2016 16:26

Today's couple seemed more 'together'. Bit of a relief after the last two.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 25/02/2016 19:00

I really liked today's family, yes, they did seem 'together' It was thought out and much less traumatic than the last couple of days.

I've seen a Facebook page comment that they were a 'breath of fresh air' and I agree with that, nice people.

It also says on the updates that tomorrow's the final Revisted of this series. Then again the scheduling's all over the place, so who knows where it'll turn up next.
