I am, since I have nothing better to do on NYE! He's got some good acts but AIBU to think that Jess Glynne's voice sounds a bit thin live? ( not sure if I've spelt it right!)

but he reminds me of someone else, future islands, his voice. I need to work that one out

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 01/01/2016 11:39

Yes, the Jess woman (all of these people apart from the gimmers were new to me, I live in furrinland) looked and sounded like an X factor audition. That doesn't get through. Is she better usually?
Agree re the bluesy stuff. Not my thing.

originalmavis · 01/01/2016 11:47

5 number one hits apparently...

BitOutOfPractice · 01/01/2016 12:01

I agree about Paul weller. He is so determined to make us listen to his new stuff. SO determined not to play any old stuff that it seems utterly joyless to me. It's like the musical equivalent of forcing a child to stay at the table until they've eaten their veg even though they don't like it. "You will sit there and listen to this until you like it"

BitOutOfPractice · 01/01/2016 12:02

I like Jess Glynne. Writes her own stuff. Doesn't see the need to writhe around in her pants. And oh god please let me have her hair!

BitOutOfPractice · 01/01/2016 12:04

I'm on a roll now but I have to say I thought Rhiannon whatserface was insufferably dull and so so worthy. And so far away from a NYE party vibe!

Behooven · 01/01/2016 13:46

What was the weird crouchy burping man all about?
Apart from him, I enjoyed it all.

originalmavis · 01/01/2016 14:07

Captain Beefheart!

hugoagogo · 01/01/2016 14:50

Find memories of captain beefheart and his mascara snake!Grin

Future islands man sounds a bit different on every track, but seems to veer from gnarls Barclay to Elton John via furniture!Confused

I will admit before last night I thought he was most likely a big black guy.

hugoagogo · 01/01/2016 14:51

Fond ffs

lovelychops · 01/01/2016 15:07

I watched it last night and it was the weakest one for years - wish I'd found this thread!
I don't really get Jess Glynn it was all a bit 90's for me (not in a good way) and I'm sure KT Tunstall only comes out for jools once a year.
I liked weller fella but he wasn't looking too fresh was he?! He has been playing jam songs live for years though.
I didn't 'get' future islands though. Was a bit drunk uncle at a wedding for me. Tom rocked it, but overall didn't get me in the party mood. Think Jools needs to up his game!!

ouryve · 01/01/2016 15:28

I did used to know someone who danced exactly like crouching man. He'll be retired by now.

Raahh · 01/01/2016 17:10

I'm watching this now, just to catch a glimpse of someone who was at my university playing in the Paul Weller band.

I do find the fake 'countdown' funny, it's like watching the Strictly results show on Sunday, knowing it's actually the night before.

I was quite obsessed by Future Islands 'Seasons' after seeing them on 'Later' ages ago.

Raahh · 01/01/2016 17:15

'Keith Lemon's dad'

Grin I love how all the band have such straight faces whilst the lead singer poo-squats and growls around themGrin
LassWiTheDelicateAir · 03/01/2016 15:07

Just fast forwarded through it. Apart from Rhiannon Giddens, who is wonderful with or without The Carolina Chocolate Drops, that was dire.

Beth Hart would be OK if she could just reign it in a little, everything turns into a barroom belt.

Weller and squatting man were embarrassing. Hosier, James Bay and that Jess woman I've never heard of were dull.

Tom Jones makes my flesh crawl.

The whole thing is so fake but that's always the case with any Jools Holland show.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2016 16:10

I thought RG was incredibly dull.

And in fairness to the woman you've never heard of she's been massive this year
