Brilliant! Add it to your must see TV!

SPOILER

Kratz got his comeuppance though.

Yes, other relatives should have come under scrutiny, including imho Teresa's brother and her ex-boyfriend.

I thought the 'if I die' video Teresa made was a bit odd, who does that?

Cocolepew · 01/01/2016 19:30

Oh yes, the ex boyfriend was who I originally though should be looked at.
Did they even interview anyone else to eliminate them?

I'm aware we didn't see it all and obviously the film makers have their own slant but just based on what we did see it beggars belief. I'm also aware they have different laws about what can be said before a trial and also that the defence acknowledged they couldn't get an unbiased jury. I was just expressing my own responses to what we saw which did acknowledge all the above and being slightly lazy in not typing out everything that we saw, just my own feelings.
The cop that took the phone call back when Steven was still in prison first time round gave me a very bad feeling. He popped up again escorting Brendan to court at one point. I found myself thinking that if this was fictional he would turn out to be the murderer because he seemed to like the spotlight and yeah, he really unnerved me.

Just seen this, not unexpected but the idea he might have been somehow fixated on her does add a different slant.

IguanaTail · 02/01/2016 19:52

He popped up again escorting Brendan to court - absolutely. He turns up everywhere!!

BrendaandEddie · 02/01/2016 19:54

he is as guilty as fuck

Did he have a fair trial? NO

IguanaTail · 02/01/2016 19:55

I really really hope he is guilty.

HarlettOScara · 03/01/2016 11:22

I've just finished this.

My heart breaks for Brendan Dassey. There is no way a child with his vulnerabilities should have been interrogated and tried in the way that he was, especially after his lawyer was dismissed for his terrible handling of the case.

lostlalaloopsy · 03/01/2016 14:39

I think that Steven is guilty and he killed Teresa, however the trial was terribly unfair and some of the evidence was dodgy i.e the magic key that was found. I don't think Brendan had anything to do with it. It seems ridiculous that they were both found guilty of the same crime but with completely different circumstances at each trial.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/01/2016 21:39

I'm up to episode 5. Can't watch any more tonight as my head is spinning . Poor Brendan , his lawyer was so shit.

Cabawill · 05/01/2016 20:57

I'm up to episode 4 and can't believe how they've got away with treating Brendan.

IguanaTail · 05/01/2016 20:58

It gets worse

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/01/2016 21:55

Just finished episode 7. Can't believe how many people are watching. God, I'm just astounded.

BringMeTea · 07/01/2016 09:52

I found the whole thing utterly depressing. I think he was framed. And the conviction of Brendan an utter disgrace. But this the US where police routinely murder civilians and face no charges. Fucked up country.

jay55 · 07/01/2016 22:26

I'm only part way through but the treatment of the nephew is insane. Just so cruel to mess with the head of a child like that and then put him away knowing its all bullshit.

Lazeedayz · 09/01/2016 19:35

I'm on episode four, my stomach is in knots over the way Brendan was interrogated and treated.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/01/2016 21:32

So many unanswered questions. And I'm very cynical about Mike Halbech.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 16/01/2016 18:25

Spoiler alert!!!

I've just watched it all over the last few days and am about to have a dig about to see what else I can find out so that it isn't just the documentary that I am going on.

Theories for what actually happened though?

Mine are:

  1. Teresa committed suicide, cops found her dead in the car and saw an opportunity to pin it on Steven.
  2. Teresa crashed and died, cops found her dead in the car and saw an opportunity to pin it on Steven
  3. It was the creepy brother
  4. It was the creepy boyfriend
  5. She was shot, either deliberately or accidentally by Bobby or Brendan's step dad when out hunting.
  6. There was another person that was stalking her and murdered her and knew that Steven could be put in the frame for it.
  7. Steven was stalking her and killed her in a location unknown and decided to try to get back at the cops by making it look like they were framing him.
  8. Steven killed her in location unknown and was just a bit thick about trying to get away with it.

Did Brendan have anything to do with it? I don't think so in any scenario. Only possibles I could lay at his door are:

that he did see body parts in the fire.
that he knows Bobby/stepdad did it and they were making him frame Steven
that he knew Steven did it but wasn't there.

Trials, well what we saw of them, were a travesty. How can you convict Brendan on that story that you have proved wasn't true in the other trial?

Towelonthedoor · 25/01/2016 14:09

One magnums think theory 3 is correct

jay55 · 25/01/2016 18:48

I think the hunting family members, because they kept stressing they were bow hunting and she was shot, as if to say see it wasn't us we had bows not guns.

The body was burned in a quarry then moved so really it could have been anyone.

CaptainKit · 26/01/2016 01:05

Just finishing ep4 and I've got to the point of rage-watching. The whole thing is such a mess, and the treatment of Brendan is just so wrong.

As a couple of people have also said; I'm having to remind myself that this all really happened.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 26/01/2016 10:23

Have you seen that Kratz is trying to get a confessional book out of Avery . What a toe rag .
