They had an Egg pram for their latest, they retail at over £800, where do they get the money from.

LibrariesgaveusP0wer · 17/12/2015 18:59

I presume that one was a publicity gift from the company...

london32 · 17/12/2015 19:28

Giles can you 'hoard' children?
What's the name of this type of psychological condition - collecting / hoarding certain things and not being able to stop?
So it seems to be - dogs/ kids or babies/ prams. I wonder if it applies to anything else.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 17/12/2015 19:46

Maybe I'm imagining it but didn't they say how many prams they'd had in the last programme?

Of course, it could be that they sell them? I bought an icandy double when I had DD2, realised I didn't need it and sold it practically unused a couple of months later for only £200 under market value... They could do a similar thing?

dolkapots · 17/12/2015 19:49

I think Noel said between 80-90 prams since they had their first?

SpendSpendSpend · 17/12/2015 22:00

Noel said they had had 30-40 prams since their first

dolkapots · 17/12/2015 22:32

Epic mistake on my part [mortified]

Nodowntime · 17/12/2015 22:33

Haha, I remember he said about 55! Which Sue said was a little bit of exaggeration.

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/12/2015 22:37

Where does she find the time to take them out in said prams anyway, with the washing, other housework, dog walking etc.

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/12/2015 22:39

exactly what I was wondering given we never saw her put the hoover down while the kids ran ferel around the house tipping juice on dogs

Nodowntime · 17/12/2015 22:57

We need to check on catch up how many he actually said, just goes to show how myths can be created, hehe.

To be fair, I went through 5 pushchairs just with my previous child: first one was a horrible uncomfortable heavy travel system, which was passed on to me from a good friend (free), but it was useless anywhere countrysidey or on cobbles (town centre), so also got a 2nd hand three wheeler. Then DC grew out of travel system by 9 months, so bought a cheap stroller, where the rubber on the back wheels got worn down to plastic in about 6 months. 3 wheeler was quite big to go in the boot or shops, so got used for off road/winter. I hated how DC was facing away from me in the stroller, so bought one new pushchair (£150 I think), where you could change the direction the seat faced. It turned to be a completely unruly with its useless supermarket trolley type wheels. So got rid of it in less than s month and bought a sturdier stroller (still under £100) which got used and abused and still lasts four years on with the last DC who is now a toddler. The only problem is if there's shopping hanging on the handles, if you lift the DC out, the pushchair topples backwards. So if anyone offered me a similar but non toppling construction, I'd be tempted to switch.

And I thought I wasn't bad, most mums I knew went through at least 6 trying to find a perfect one!

Nodowntime · 17/12/2015 23:01

The programme is edited, innit? Even if it wasn't, the cameramen didn't live in the house 24/7 with access everywhere! It's not like it's true representation of their life...it's what channel 4 was hoping would get people talking ))

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/12/2015 23:08

Yes it is edited. but in their favour of yku asked me.

showed no bedtimes or bath times or homework struggles. showed no mess no dicipline no cooking, nothing,

I've never seen so much stuff hidden in.my life.

there is NO WAY those 2 parents and only 2 parents get those kids ready dressed and fed and to school on time.

no way.

C4 have hidden the real truth Imo. and I'd like to see her manage on.her own.while dad's at work.or seeing a friend (normal.occurance for families) and she does it herself without older ones doing it fir her.

Nodowntime · 17/12/2015 23:24

I've only ever seen 3 episodes, but they showed plenty of cooking in previous ones(dad cooking), showed bath times (3 or 4 kids in bath normally). Showed plenty! of mess.
Getting the kids ready in the morning - I think the little ones are expected to get themselves ready as soon as they are able to get dressed/use the toilet/brush teeth etc. And the older ones are surely roped in too, to help...
I actually got the impression Noel is more hands on, I was gobsmacked at his 3.30 start every morning at the bakery, then back to the house, what was it, by 6? To get the kids up and ready. And they always showed him doing the cooking, even making packed lunches. Sue jokingly complained she always got to clear up after dinner.

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/12/2015 06:27

But why should he have to come back.

that's not a normal.set up. that's what I mean. if a parent is at work they are at work..urs the one who's home who deals with getting kids ready fir school. if he ever gets another job he won't be able to do that. and she's fucked. that's the problem

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/12/2015 06:32

from the way it's shown he carries her far too much Imo.

then. look at the documentary shown about that woman who had 8 babies.who was a single. parent..she couldn't do it on her own.

but have 2 parents and it's ok.

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/12/2015 06:35

That's not to say he shouldn't help out. of course both should be working together.

but come on

having to get your dh back from work to do something basic like a school run when she's at home. just no.

dolkapots · 18/12/2015 07:24

Yes Noel leaves at 5.30 and is back at 8 to help get kids ready. I think I recall Sue saying on the website that they set out all of the younger kids' uniforms in the living room the night before and that is where they get dressed.

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/12/2015 07:29

personally I think that's too reliant.

I think.she always seems to look like she has no idea where to start. sues hoovering and kids are tipping drinks over pets.

she tries to get out of it all the time.

when your dh can't even finish work without having to come home.to sort the kids then surely you hage gone too far.

a healthy woman with healthy NT kids should be able to do a school run

BrandNewAndImproved · 18/12/2015 07:57

I don't think sue knows how to drive.

Pretty stupid imo to have so many dc your housebound without a car and you don't know how to drive.

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/12/2015 08:08

People cope without driving
however if she can't cope with getting a bus or walking a school run. she's an idiot. not some amazing miracle mum witg a large family.

she doesn't do teh schopl run, he has to come and help with the shopping, he cooks dinner in between work.

the older ones watch the others or just run riot.
what exactly is it she does.

dolkapots · 18/12/2015 08:14

Sue was asked recently if she drives and she said she does.

dolkapots · 18/12/2015 09:06

Just rewatched. Noel gave a figure of between 50-60 prams at least. Sue said that was an exaggeration.

findingmyfeet12 · 18/12/2015 09:36

It must be exhausting never to get any down time. I think Noel always looks tired.

It's interesting that if you watch programmes about the Duggar family, the mom there always looks a bit spaced out as well.

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/12/2015 10:16

Didn't Michelle dugger loose a baby whilst she was taking the pill or something and that's when it all started. she blamed herself and the contraception so turned to god and god would decide how many babies.

and obviously sue was adopted.

it almost seems as if both these men preyed on women on a fragile mental state who where perhaps the educational level was low so they didn't know any better. (no one really in modern society with access to the Internet or a half decent education thinks that a miscarriage is caused by having taken contraception at some point in your life. it's something that just happens. and sue appears to have a degree of LD)

and the rest is history
