Yeah, what activity monitor is she wearing?

BikeRunSki · 19/11/2015 21:26

Not the 1950s medical comedy then?

ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 21:26

Nobody?

He's giving them a 10 hour window for eating. He says they can eat:

meat
fish
eggs
nuts

5 different vegetables per day

Anything I've forgotten?

Ha, no! A doctor is spending a month with a family to sort out their (fairly common) health problems.

FartyTette · 19/11/2015 21:38

It is quite terrifying. Dr is getting a bit pissed off with them now.

Katiekatiekatie · 19/11/2015 21:38

They are just ignoring him Confused

SwedishEdith · 19/11/2015 21:40

It is annoying but they must have been told to look like they're not following the rules at first. Then they will see the light and there will be some success at the end.

Actually, it'd be better TV if they continued to ignore the rules and ended up bigger/unhealthier at the end Grin

None of this is new though.

ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 21:41

I'm a few minutes behind - are they really ignoring him?

Oh okay, watching them eat the sausages. Grin

I don't think the bread in the sausages will give him diabetes, it's more likely the fat in the sausages that'll harm him.

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 21:42

Did anyone hear at the beginning what they could eat?

OP posts:
RebootYourEngine · 19/11/2015 21:42

My tv book said that there is a similar programme on channel 4 this week too.

What type of diabetes didnhe have that he cant eat a sausage?

ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 21:43

How come she's not losing weight with such a strict diet?

OP posts:
SwedishEdith · 19/11/2015 21:44

No, for type 2 diabetes, he should be avoiding refined carbs so they should be buying sausages with a very high percentage of meat. The fat's not really the problem.

FartyTette · 19/11/2015 21:45

I thought fasting was a no-no for diabetics?

FartyTette · 19/11/2015 21:46

Ah, just said following GPs advice.

SwedishEdith · 19/11/2015 21:46

But, then we shouldn't be eating sausages or red meat anyway as we'll get bowel cancer.

ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 21:46

The sausages he was eating only had 40% meat - the rest was rusks and bread and crap.

The 5:2 diet was designed by Michael Moseley for precisely this issue. His dad had type 2 and MM is one of those fat on the inside, thin on the outside people.

FartyTette · 19/11/2015 21:49

Dad is not going to stick to this once the Dr has finished visiting. Very extreme restrictions to the diet.

ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 21:51

It's funny that I never think of a 24 hour as 7 pm to 7 pm. I would have thought it was the full day not eating at all.

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 21:54

It's hard doing the 24 hour fast when, when you come off it, you're so restricted, isn't it?

The 5:2 diet doesn't restrict in that way, does it?

OP posts:
SwedishEdith · 19/11/2015 21:55

You can tell he's lost weight.

ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 21:57

Has the mum lost weight?

OP posts:
FartyTette · 19/11/2015 21:58

OK, I was wrong - well done them!

ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 22:01

You can really tell he's lost weight. Less so with her, but she did really well, too.

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 19/11/2015 22:02

I didn't see what the daughter did to stop getting colds. Did anyone see that bit?
