Am thinking of getting a subscription for my dad

How much does it cost and what package do you have?

How much choice do you have within your package?

What is the cheapest and is it worth having or do you need the add ons?

How much are the add on extras?

Thanks for your help

We've just cancelled and gone to NTL, because of the cost. It just kept on goin up and up, we were paying £53 a month in the end.

I miss Sky+ though Xmas Sad

If you threaten to cancel they will give you some quite good deals.I once cancelled and after amonth they phoned and offered my the £21 packagefor 63p a month for 3 months , then I said I was going to cancel again so got the next 6 months for £7.50!

RT - didn't mean to scare you off completely. I think they're probably OK as long as you don't try to cancel the contract. That's when our problems started, and I think if things had been better explained to us it would have been OK - inconvenient but OK. It is a good thing to have, you just have to be aware of the pitfalls, as with any company you deal with over the phone really.

RTKangaSANTAMummy · 04/12/2006 23:12

no is ok

I think I will talk it over with my bro but I am glad to have heard all your experiences

it is better than getting info from their website

I think on balance I will think of something else for his pressie

You guys are ALL DEFFO BRILL

Thanks

You did well Jolly, we phoned to say we were cancelling and they said "bye then". What, not even a tear after 12 years?

There is always freesat. Its the new thing for if you don't want to pay a monthly fee and you just want the basics. Our local TV shop is advertising it so you can get a local in rather than deal with Sky. You pay £199 for the installation which includes the dish box etc and you get a card which allows you to watch the basic channels 1,2,3,4, 5 BBc£, BBC4, Film 4, E4 etc - basically the ones which are on freeview I think. I don't think you could get an extra sports pack with this but at least there would be no ongoing bills. If he wanted to upgrade then that would be up to him but at least you would have set him up. If you already have the dish etc you can get the card for £20. Keep meaning to downgrade us but haven't faced their phone system yet!

we rang up to cancel our £43 subscription for all the channels & they told us we could have them all for £21.50 for 6 months.

Ilovestnicholas · 06/12/2006 22:50

No we don't have SKY
It is free, called 4, possibly 5 channels, depending on how the wind is blowing over the Severn Estuary.

I watch the soaps, dh and the kids watch DVDs so we are putting our £50 pcm towards something more useful for us all - a holiday !
