IguanaTail My GP told me cucumber is very hard to digest unless you peel it and is mostly water, so we can't even have that.

IguanaTail · 06/09/2015 18:29

There we go. Knew it.

Air it is!

BIWI · 06/09/2015 19:16

Fizzy water is slightly more acidic than still - but it's not significantly so that it's bad for your teeth.

wol1968 · 07/09/2015 10:45

You can't drink the water! The stuff from the tap is full of chlorine and the chemicals they use to disinfect and dissolve the chalky residues. And the stuff in bottles is contaminated by plastics. And too much water washes out all your essential electrolytes in any case.

And sorry IguanaTail but even our air is compromised by pollution.

We're all DOOMED....

AngelicaDelight · 07/09/2015 10:59

There is sugar in San Pellegrino?? Huh?

ppeatfruit · 07/09/2015 11:08

True WOL1968 You also forgot the hormones and pesticide run off in the tap water Shock. Oh and the high salt content in quite a few bottled waters, After I have Vittel I feel thirstier than I did before!

You may as well drink sea water!

Yddraigoldragon · 07/09/2015 12:08

To completely lower the tone, another reason not to drink water is that fishes fuck in it.

Notoedike · 07/09/2015 19:22

Handbags at dawn! Erskine just sounds like someone trying to sell a book!

BabyGanoush · 07/09/2015 19:58

The bubbles in fizzy water are a type of acid I guess?

It's chemical name is Carbonic Acid

Thelushinthepub · 07/09/2015 20:43

San pellegrino water doesn't have sugar. They do make a range of soft drinks though, which started off as only lemon or orange flavour and were made to look like San pellegrino water with fruit juice (ie squeeze of lemon or orange) in fact they are just fizzy drinks like fanta but I find the packaging misleading. I don't think they taste sweet, those flavours taste sour, as citrus fruit would

WorktoLive · 07/09/2015 21:17

33 g of sugar in a can of Limonata, almost as much as a can of coke at 35 g, but I disagree with lush, it is incredibly sweet and sticky.

Battlingonandonandon · 07/09/2015 22:50

I watched this, was very glad JO didn't just say 'diabetes' and said about type 2 rather than lump the types together

Notoedike · 08/09/2015 08:45

Just watched the documentary "Weight of the nation" broadcast originally on Sky Atlantic. I was really surprised to hear that sugar sweetened drinks and fruit juice are the largest source of calories among childrens and teens in America. If we do indeed inherit America's eating habits and problems then I can see why Jamie focused on the fizzy drinks tax. It's very easy to drink half your calorie intake - too easy. But I'm not sure a 10% tax is enough to alter behaviour.

JanetBlyton · 08/09/2015 09:15

Not, I am not surprised. I have been saying for year if British parents just changed what their children ddrink to 100% tap water we would make a massive difference to the health of children.

absolutelynotfabulous · 09/09/2015 09:06

Exactly, janet. It would be such an easy change to make, so why isn't the Government promoting it? It couldn't be a clearer, less ambiguous message.

I'm interested to know why Jamie charges a tax on fizzy drinks in his restaurants. If he's Tha bothered by fizzy drinks, why doesn't he just take them off the menu and provide free tap water instead? ....hang on, I think I know the answer to that..

ShinesLikeGold · 09/09/2015 10:59

And why doesn't he put a tax on his sugary desserts....

ppeatfruit · 09/09/2015 11:12

Yes he's rather shot himself in the foot with that programme Grin

I checked out his open air 'stand' cafe in Bicester Village and was amazed at the number of sugary, (admittedly delicious looking) desserts and cakes, non were GF.
