Will anyone be watching? It starts on C4 at 9. I'm in South Wales, previously in Cardiff.

He's responsible for pastoral support and he has been communicating with her mother so it seems appropriate to me?

Mr Hennessey is a great teacher. He is definitely a character though.

I think the texting/phone calls happen a lot. Always agreed with parents in advance and it isn't his personal phone. AFAIK it doesn't leave school

Mrsmorton · 25/08/2015 21:57

Why did the head leave?

QuestioningStuff · 25/08/2015 21:57

Ahh ok Mike that's not so weird then.

BrendaandEddie · 25/08/2015 21:57

god i have got kids OUT of bed
in their rooms, peeled back the duvet

Once on my day off. I was in bed, saw an email she wasnt in, SAW RED and shoved on some clothes and went to her house.

merlottime · 25/08/2015 21:58

It's nice to see that not all of the girls are caked in make up though - the girls in Educating Essex were so made up it was awful.

thatstoast · 25/08/2015 22:00

I was told the head has gone on to another school in need of improvement. Possibly headhunted.

There doesn't seem to be as much low level disruption at this school as there was in the last series. (Possibly due to low levels of attendance? All the disruptive ones aren't turning up?)

SurlyCue · 25/08/2015 22:01

Mr henessy is lovely!

He had an agreement with her mum to call her and also he said her text came through on the school phone which i think isnt inappropriate.

Very hard to keep a persitant truanter in school if both parents are at work and cant just march her to school every day. Even if they did, she quite clearly can just walk out as she pleases.

leccybill · 25/08/2015 22:01

Looking forward to the next episode - love the ones about the cheeky younger characters.

How does Willows High do, Ofsted-wise? Uniform standards are very low.

BrendaandEddie · 25/08/2015 22:01

oh we all text these days.

Hepzibar · 25/08/2015 22:02

Surely Educating Yorkshire was the best?

Mr Barton, Mushy, Mr Steer the maths teacher 'more cleverer than Stephen Hawking'. And the immortal Bailey 'I've shaved me eyebrows off".

Ryan for president.

Just loved EY?

Lolimax · 25/08/2015 22:03

What a lovely episode. Just shows that with good leadership and committed caring staff kids can turn their lives around. If only every child in every school had the same opportunity.

Pud2 · 25/08/2015 22:04

In an ideal world Spud. It sound like her siblings have had difficulties as well so perhaps home life is a challenge. Unfortunately not all children have two parents who are willing and able to support them.

leccybill · 25/08/2015 22:07

I thought Education Yorkshire was the best so far. Brilliant characters. Who was the teacher who was literally allergic to school?

SurlyCue · 25/08/2015 22:08

Educating yorkshire was FAB! I didnt see essex.

This was only first episode of cardiff. Give it time to grow on us Grin

TheFairyCaravan · 25/08/2015 22:08

I'm pleased Leah did well in her GCSEs. Hopefully she'll start to like herself and achieve her dreams at college. Good luck to her, and Jessica. It would be nice to know how Courtney did, too.

NoMoreRenting · 25/08/2015 22:08

The head has moved on to Ryde Academy on The Isle of Wight. When she went toCardiff her family stayed behind in Southampton. She took the IofW job to be closer to home.

Pud2 · 25/08/2015 22:11

Oh yes. Think I meant Yorkshire, not Essex. That was the one with the lad with the stutter wasn't it?

Hassled · 25/08/2015 22:11

There's a Mr Hennessy equivalent at my DCs' school. He's been there since the dawn of time, taught all 4 of them and they've all hated him. Grumpy, miserable bastard - but he cares, and he's a good teacher.

BrendaandEddie · 25/08/2015 22:12

christ Ryde academy is ALWAYS recruiting

clary · 25/08/2015 22:13

I thought Mr Henessey was great, what commitment to trying to get Leah in to school. Glad she did so well.

I agree the uniform was awful, I was commenting all the way through on the shoes and the nails and the ties... and the chewing gum! Not in my classroom (if I saw it that is Grin)

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 25/08/2015 22:16

I loved Educating Yorkshire so much.....that poor deputy head who was falling apart.

At dds school one of the teachers went and pulled a lad out of bed prior to a gcse exam when he didn't turn up.

Callmegeoff · 25/08/2015 22:41

I've yet to watch it but the head according to a Facebook news feed will be starting at the comp round the corner from me -Ryde Academy
