These 2 detectives sat talking shite aren't filling me with confidence in our police force.

OP posts:

45,000 images and he gets a SUSPENDED sentence?! Heaven knows what he would have to do before he gets sent to prison...

recall · 03/08/2015 22:04

he got suspended from his job and something else, sex offenders register i think ?

recall · 03/08/2015 22:05

yes nectarines agree

Nectarines · 03/08/2015 22:05

The doctor was put on sex offender register for a pathetic five years.

recall · 03/08/2015 22:06

surely they can overcome their sexual urges enough not to download that

PickleSarnie · 03/08/2015 22:06

5 years on the Sex Offenders register and banned from practicing medicine in the UK viva. That's it! Angry

SpendSpendSpend · 03/08/2015 22:06

Apparently a very high percentage of women stay with men in these situations

YouBastardSockBalls · 03/08/2015 22:08

I had to switch off.

Gutted he didn't go to prison, I was hoping he'd be regularly bummed in the showers.

recall · 03/08/2015 22:12

spendspendspend how ? why ? Shock

SpendSpendSpend · 03/08/2015 22:13

I ve no idea why.

Im guessing they tell their wives that the computer downloaded it itself.

SouthWestmom · 03/08/2015 22:16

Recall that's exactly what i said to dh. Why not resist the urge? Knowing what you are accessing/ the consequences .
I think the older bloke seemed a bit too keen to talk about it.

YouBastardSockBalls · 03/08/2015 22:18

I feel sick after watching that. Wish I hadn't.

That sick bastard. I don't know how they don't just climb over the desk and punch them and punch them.

Nectarines · 03/08/2015 22:19

He tried to make a comparison between his paedophilia and the officer's own, adult, consensual, sexual relationships. I thought it seemed like he was trying to rationalise his behaviour.

Im sickened.

chippednailvarnish · 03/08/2015 22:22

I just can't believe that there wasn't a prison sentence for both...

VivaLeBeaver · 03/08/2015 22:23

Jesus.

The bloke in our village apparantly tried to blame it on his business partner. So maybe the wife believed that?

Ilovecrapcrafts · 03/08/2015 22:30

The wives knew they'd done it, they both admitted it and pleaded guilty. Although who knows if their wives stayed.

My initial reaction was also shock there was no prison time but then I thought- reluctantly- as vile as watching images is, that's all it is.

Interesting there is such a huge backlog of computers to analyse - shouldn't the police be throwing some resource at that?

Bunnyjo · 03/08/2015 22:31

I can't work out whether the teacher was very open about the offences because he had something else to hide, or whether he was 'relieved' it was out in the open. Him trying to compare the officer's feelings around consensual adult sex with the feelings he had viewing the rape of a 1yr old sickened me to the core.

The sentences didn't reflect the severity of the crimes, or the suffering those poor children must have endured for these disgusting men to get their kicks. The fact that both worked in positions of trust should have increased the severity of the sentence, and I would have thought that custodial would have been the logical starting point Sad

SouthWestmom · 03/08/2015 22:41

From the huge backlog and the conversations though, I got the impression that if they all went to prison, prisons would be full.

MrsBungle · 03/08/2015 22:45

That was such a distressing programme tonight. I'm am truly shocked and appalled at the sentencing. Honest to god, if that school worker didn't deserve a prison sentence - who does? I can't believe it. Fucking animals.

Bunnyjo · 03/08/2015 22:46

They would, and maybe it is seen as something that can be dealt with in the community now?

However, the father of someone we know was convicted of downloading 29 'indecent images of children' in 2002 and he was sentenced to 22 months and served just under 1 year.

In a little over a decade we appear to have gone from fairly robust sentences (he pleaded guilty and have no previous, nor did he work with children or have any children within the family) to ridiculously lenient sentences that do not reflect the crime.

Bunnyjo · 03/08/2015 22:46

had no previous, not have!

MorrisZapp · 03/08/2015 23:04

Really, why bother? Why not just let them all carry on and admit that there's no penalty? I was absolutely appalled at this. Look at the time spent, the hours put in, the intelligence, the admin etc etc and for what. Barely a slap on the wrist.

The superdry clad youngsters dealing with it just didn't seem professional to me. Don't the police employ experts to do this stuff? None of them sounded confident or authoritative. To be honest they came across as if they had been dropped in on work experience or something.

I can't even think about those men. It's just too upsetting to imagine what they have been doing.

26milesofcbeebies · 03/08/2015 23:07

Thing is, ilovecrapcrafts, it's not just watching, it's creating a market for the people who make the images.
I'm appalled that neither got a custodial sentence.

stareatthetvscreen · 03/08/2015 23:10

bloody hell
no deterrent at all is there?

this could cause really awful acceptance of this sort of crime in the future

if the prisons are full - we need more.it can be done.

hairtoday1 · 03/08/2015 23:30

Prison doesn't help though does it?

And they've both ruined their lives. They won't work again, will have destroyed their relationships
