Which TV characters were killed off too soon?

Ned stark (game of thrones) don't understand why he was killed off so early, could have kept him as the good guy against the lannisters for ages

James Noakes (Dexter) they could have kept him for much longer, I loved how he knew Dexter was evil and was on to him but no one else noticed

I came on to say exactly the same thing! I don't think I have ever been as upset when a TV character has died, I bawled my eyes out!

I was gutted when Ned Stark was killed off but think GRRM did it to basically set the mood for the whole series - the idea that no-one is safe, no matter how brave/noble/nice/otherwise they are. Plus of course, if he hadn't died, a lot of the stuff with Robb, Sansa and Arya wouldn't have happened and the course of the series would be totally different. Khal Drogo I was less bothered about, but I think it was done to make Daenerys do everything on her own. I don't really like her though, so am less sympathetic.

I was quite pissed off when Beth died in The Walking Dead. Totally unnecessary and did nothing for the plot whatsoever.

Graham in Once Upon A Time - we barely got to figure him out before he left.
(That said, I much prefer the way it's all turned out pairing-wise with him out of the way. But his character barely got half a dozen episodes...)

Tiffany in Eastenders. Martine McCutcheon once said that she only wanted a leave of absence but the producers wrote her out completely. Awful really when you think just how many characters are written in and out of EE all the time.

Cannot help thinking that if Ross and Tiffany could bring a lot of viewers back to EE.

Sybil in DA, I loved seeing Sybil and Branson together..

Agree with sockqueen. It was a shock with purpose. In many books the main characters are safe and the secondary ones get slaughtered. Not in asoiaf.

Joffrey Baratheon, yes I know he was a horrible shit, but so beautifully acted and no GOT villain has even come close to him.

Agree with Merle from TWD, did nothing for Daryl's development that wasn't already in hand and they lost a great antagonist.

Bodie in The Wire should have made it to Season 5 before they killed him, just to complete the street/soldier arc.
