Aaargh! Was watching Catherine Tate show and her new character (annoying person in office trying to squeeze sponsor money out of bloke) was wearing the same cardigan as I bought in Per Una this summer. I really liked it, too - looked great with my jeans, sniff! Now feel like a frump (DH would add, maybe there's a reason for that...)

Anyone else been put off an item of clothing by seeing someone on telly wearing it?

Maxine - thats it!! True, at least she was young

My friend 'dresses' the famous - often dresses Eastenders people etc, and yes, he just goes and buys whats in the highstreets at the time. But it just doesnt feel quite the same wearing a beloved garment when you've seen it sprawled across the screen on a soap opera.

Throcken - of course props have to come from somewhere - but it's when you see someone who is so unlike you! Like when I thought I looked elegant & sophisticated early-thirties, yet props-buyer thinks my outfit suits Audrey "grab-a-grandad" Roberts.

maybe you do look like that in it - just because someone else is wearing it - doesn't effect how it looks on you.

I can see it makes you feel odd - but being rational it shouldn't make any difference at all. What is worse wasting your money by never wearing it again - or feeling a bit odd wearing it for a while until you forget all about having seen it elsewhere ?

But then I am that odd woman who doesn't give a toss about fashion or trendiness etc.
