Is anyone watching tonights episode? I'm finding it quite hard to watch/listen to thomas' mum shrieking at him the way she is. Cant she see him with his hands over his ears and realise she is making a stressful situation worse? Why not take it down a notch and speak calmly instead of shrieking. I'm hoping with his diagnosis his parens will be given guidance in how to de-escalate situations rather than. Add to the volume/tension.

Omg the dog and the cat! Poor little thing being woken in the middle night.

He seemed like such a gorgeous boy!
Actually they both did!

Just like last week, I just find it so hard to believe that no one apart from Charlie's family had picked up on his autistic traits. It's heartbreaking that his Mum has had 4 years of trying to convince people something is out of the usual with him and no one listening. You'd have thought/hoped there was enough awareness for his school to have at least flagged it up and suggested an assessment.

Billy and the cat and dog pushing him out of bed! Awww bless.

I can totally relate to how hard it is to get help. DS2 is 9 and we felt for years he was HFA, every one else he met could tell you he was very "quirky" but school refused to ask for an assessment as he was bright and doing well academically. Sad even though he was really struggling socially and was prone to melt downs. Even my GPS did not think it was as an issue.

We finally managed to get the process started last November when he was referred for his HMS to a rheumatologist who it turned out had an interest in ASD and started the ball rolling. Just at the time when school were complaining about how emotional Manky boy was. But of course not doing anything about it because he was doing just fine Hmm

So I have every sympathy for her and how worn down she is with the lack of support.

I thought that too. How could he be expelled from school without anyone noticing he has Sen? Awful disablist practice. Angry

Having seen this week's episode it feels like the law should change so it is illegal for a school to expel a child without an ed psyc doing an assessment of the child and their recommendations being noted.

I agree odd, but it won't happen. It's hard enough to get the ed psych in the first place let alone them doing the extra (but probably much needed) assessments.
