I agree. Brilliant prog and bang on. My favourite character was the Chancellor, what a woman. Liked the eldest daughter too, feisty with a sense of humour. Shame the hubby was such a whimp though.

But can they line all those actors up again for another shot, given that they are all top notch?

Fantastic programme - after I watched the first episode I thought it was going to be a bit silly, but it was brilliant, esp Janet McTeer. Top notch!

I don't think they're paving the way for a second series (although I'd love it if they were). We're supposed to be going away thinking about how power corrupts etc etc ... I think

good... some people who can explain.. have only dipped into this as missed the odd ep for all sorts of reasons... but what was teh terrible terrible thing that hubby did...? and what did Kitty want doen and how was she involved in all of this?... only watched ep 2 and the last bit last night (just after he tolde her the horrible secret???... and the went to make a cup of tea whilst kitty made miranda look very scared!!!!)....

thanks!

Hubby laundered some money about 15 years ago for his boss who was being pressurised by some shady loan sharks. He also took a £10k bung, telling his wife it was a bonus, which just heaps the guilt on.

Kitty was the original financial backer, giving Ros £10m to kick start her campaign, not to mention bribing a handful of backbenchers to transfer to Ros's party. Her chickens came home to roost last night when she called in that favour, insisting that some Home Office IT contract should go to one of her buddies, at a company of which she's also a major shareholder.
Of course, none of this could happen in real life......

Miranda was looking scared because it was Kitty who originally suggested she work for Ros. She was offered money to do it, but didn't accept it as she genuinely believed in Ros.

Hope that helps....

ah so I didn't miss the conclusion in my drowsiness , there wasn't one !!

halcat · 09/11/2006 13:29

Lizs I was thinking the same, did I miss something here? I'm still not sure what actually happened at the end there (was she going to divorce him? that's my guess) and frankly found it a bit unsatisfying after 5 really good episodes... guess it really was just about how she got corrupted too.
