Decided to watch this as it's being reshown on Spike the new channel. The first episode cut off before the end on my Sky recording. He was in bed with his wife at the end. Did it finish there or was there more after that?

Thanks

You simply MUST stick with BB.

That is all.

Cooroo · 25/04/2015 08:57

I was hooked from the first moment, I think the first 2 episodes are enthralling and can't understand how anyone could be bored. But obviously different things work for different people so some may never be hooked.

PeppermintCrayon · 25/04/2015 09:05

People keep saying to stick with it. But why?

Cooroo · 25/04/2015 09:52

peppermintcrayon - because they want you to feel the pleasure they did. It is kindly meant! But if it's not your thing never mind!

PeppermintCrayon · 25/04/2015 19:28

But they never explain why!

I feel like this writer: www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/10286409/Breaking-Bad-Breaking-Bored-more-like.html

Ok I'll try. Because the characters are developed with subtlety. Because the attention to detail is incredible. Because since the Greeks invented drama we've enjoyed watching men destroy themselves. Because the music is so well chosen. Because of the clever and innovative camera angles. Because of the moment when he says: "I am the one who knocks."

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 25/04/2015 20:19

Because these are ordinary people propelled into doing extraordinary things to protect their family.
Because nothing is wasted in the script, the cinematography, the construction of every scene or the characterisation.
Because of the Colour Wheel.
Because it takes the conventions of tv drama and twists them into strange and wonderful things.
Because you think you know what's going on but then it wrongfoots you and laughs in your face.

It is a slow burner, the whole series takes place over about 2 years but OH MY FUCKING GOD it is so worth it!! Series 1 isn't the greatest but around the midle of series 2 you see the first shift in Walters character that is utterly heartbreaking.

I finally finished it over Christmas, for weeks I felt like there was a breaking bad shaped hole in my life. If you've never watched it before I envy you.

Alchemist · 27/04/2015 23:03

The only other series I really was into was about nuclear war, in the 80s, it was The Edge of Darkness with bob Peck and Joanne Whalley.

BB I loved. Tried to watch BCS but haven't been grabbed.

ParkingFred · 27/04/2015 23:09

Best thing I have ever watched. It is so clever, so well acted & shot.

I too was bereft when I came to the end.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/04/2015 23:13

Just started watching this. Having exhausted how many times I could rewatch Veronica Mars.

I'm liking it so far.

velouria · 28/04/2015 00:43

Well I stuck with it until series 3, nope not for me,not really invested in any of the characters, and oh boy is it slow, I just don't get it Confused

velouria · 28/04/2015 00:46

I don't get the Walter love,a conversation between him and Skylar reminded me so much of the way my ea ex conversed, I just shuddered. He is an asshat.

IvoryMadonna · 28/04/2015 23:10

Just watched 2/2 on catch-up, and tbh I could hardly understand a word most of them said. A problem I often have with American films and TV programmes.

I'm afraid I'm probably just not clever enough to appreciate the "cleverness".

That Jesse lad reminds me of Ant and Dec, one of them anyway.

liveloveluggage · 28/04/2015 23:18

ivorymadonna you can't understand American? Are you my grandmother?

IvoryMadonna · 28/04/2015 23:55

I can't make out what they say, and I don't understand a lot of the idioms they use.

chocolatelife · 29/04/2015 06:36

We use subtitles for American programmes.

liveloveluggage · 29/04/2015 06:52

Grin you obviously don't watch enough T.V!

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 29/04/2015 07:43

Half way through series 2 and still not loving it. I hated True Detective though and everyone raved about that.

mrsleomcgary · 29/04/2015 07:50

I hated True Detective as well but breaking bad is my second favourite tv programme of all time (The West Wing is my favourite, though my username may have given that away)

IvoryMadonna · 29/04/2015 11:29

liveloveluggage I watch very little TV. There's so many channels now, and it seems to be 95% crap so I just haven't got the will to sift through it all.

IvoryMadonna · 12/05/2015 02:04

"Half way through series 2 and still not loving it."

Same here. I don't get it. Where are all these "twists and turns"? It's just the same sort of thing every time. The highlight was episode 2 with the body in the bath débacle, but it hasn't come anywhere near that blackly comic level since. It's just tedious now.

One thing I grant you, the cinematography is fantastic. But it's not enough.

queensansastark · 12/05/2015 02:47

Could someone explain the Colour Wheel please? I've watched BB but didn't know about a Colour Wheel.. Confused
