He is indeed Silent Bob!

I don't know what the writers could do to get the spark back. It's almost like they've grown too much but they're still trying to find comedy in the same things. Sheldon has learned to compromise and love, Howard is married, Raj can talk to beautiful women and Leonard and Penny are engaged. The root reasons for laughing with them are no longer there and really we don't need more exploration of Sheldon's idiosyncrasies or the dichotomy that is Penny/AFF being BFF. I suppose the show could mature and they could find comedy in who they are now and where they are in their lives but it's just tired instead.

It's still far better than most things on television. DD has decided if Penny grew her hair it'd be funny again.

Nothing will every top Leonard Nimoy's autograph and AFF's tiara.

Oh the episode featuring Leonard Nimoy's autograph was far more moving than Howard's mum dying.

Brings a tear to my dusty old eye.

Mrsjayy · 22/04/2015 12:28

Leonard nemoys napkin was adorable makes me weepy I wonder if they will do an episoode featuring him dying. I think the writers are writing rubbish to get the actors back for causing a hooha over contracts and pay.

I did have an awww moment but I do think TBBT has gone off the boil somewhat.

I don't think I've had a proper LOL moment in this series and for some of the last one TBH. Minimal guffaws.

All of the relationship dynamics have changed which has impacted on the humour.

Mrsjayy · 22/04/2015 12:49

I did Lol at howard and AFF singing to Niel Diamond amused me

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/04/2015 13:12

Grantaire that is interesting analysis.

I reckon Mrs W's death would never have been a plot point if it weren't for the actress dying - so it is really not surprising that it felt contrived.

I filled up with tears when I watched it, I wasn't sure they would write it in, thought it was done very well.

But I'm really beginning to hate Leonard, I never really liked him, the way he chased Penny, then Priya, and all his insecurities, he drives me mad, I really can't see him and Penny getting married.

squoosh · 01/05/2015 13:01

Last night's new episode about Sheldon applying to go to Mars was woeful. Every other episode now seems to be about Sheldon and Amy's relationship and him showing her that actually he does care. Well you know what? I don't care!

The show and its characters have changed beyond all recognition. It's just not funny anymore. Is it time to do the decent thing and pull the plug?

squoosh · 07/05/2015 20:57

This week's episode was even worse. It's making me resent a once funny show.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 10/06/2015 18:05

Squoosh I am beginning to agree with you. I love re-watching the older episodes but last weeks - come one - what on earth was the point about that whole commencement speech thing with Leonard? Not funny and POINTLESS!

Although it did remind me of the wonderful "Weear Sunscreen" thing which I went back and read and enjoyed all over again. So not a total loss.

Wear sunscreen

I agree that this series is a bit off. It is very bland. Im beginning to not like the characters.
