I have been a fan ever since it started 5 or 6 years ago (when was it ?)

What do you think of the new series so far ?

Is anyone watching it on E4 ?

god i f i was meadows boy freind id lEG it now
do you think anthony will become a made guy?

TheDaVinciCod · 31/10/2006 21:02

"Made guy: an indoctrinated member of the Family. Essentially, you pledge your allegiance to the boss and the family for life. To even qualify, your mother has to be Italian"

that is for this website mobspeak

ItalianJob · 31/10/2006 21:06

I think AJ could well end up in the "Family" as he's a bit useless at academics, so unless he gets himself a good career like Meadow, he's bound to end up drifting into it for easy money IMHO

venusinfurs · 31/10/2006 21:08

Yes, but will he ever be a stand-up guy? I don't think so. At some point they might have to have a sit down with him. But hey, whaddareyagonnadoaboutit?
Oh dear, have become carried away again...

bookends · 31/10/2006 21:37

Back from walking around 'trick or treating' in the cold - nice cuppa tea and a bit of children's choc.'

I love talking about the 'Sopranos'. The show was the best thing on TV about 6 years ago. Tony's mother - she was something else and the sister - Janice - certifiable.

yellowrose - I haven't been able to see this series and will wait for the dvd to come out. Its worth it watching them all back to back - I end up eating and speaking like Tony and co. Getting the dancing girls into the house is a bit of a squish.

Some very scary individuals - actually they are all scary and wouldn't you hate to know someone like that.

Blimey..your tour of Sicily sounded enough to give me high blood pressure.

Clayhead thanks for info. about 'pscho Paulie'. Ahh yes, Silvio he reminds me off someone else on TV cannot place it.

yellowrose · 01/11/2006 07:58

bookends - lol the pole dancing girls - now I wonder if my DH wouldn't mind inviting a few of those round into my living room

I had a work colleague who was an Italian New Yorker. Because she had been born and bred in NY (and had nice parents !) she said once she started watching the Sopranos, she had to keep asking her mum what all the Italian swear words meant, because she had never heard them being used before !! It opened her eyes to a new world of Italian vocab !

In fact, the langauge sounds so authentic to me its unbelievable. I read somewhere that the mob themselves are amazed at how authentic these Sopranos guys are ! I am glad I hear so little "forgitaboutit" - it would just remind me of that t*t Hugh Grant in that dreadful comedy film "Johnny Blue Eyes".

Janice - she is bonkers. Do you remember the scene in series 5 where she has just come back from "Anger Management" classes and Tony decides to wind her up by referring to the son she had when young and abandoned ? She was shouting and screaming and trying to hit Tony within minutes !!

Then you realise why they are all so violently mad, everyone they ever grew up with is a psychopath (Uncle Junior - was mad even before he became senile). The most dysfunctional family you have ever seen (just slightly worse than my own...lol)

TheHighwayCod · 13/11/2006 14:56

BLIMEY VITOS DEATH?
what motivated Phil?

moonshine · 13/11/2006 16:56

My parents are Italian and I definitely understand alot of the swear words as they are Southern dialect (although even my parents say that they find Sicilians hard to understand - it's almost like a different language).

As for Vito - well, I know for my parent's generation, many of whom are spookily similar to some of the characters, bringing shame on the family is the absolute worst thing in the world. Guess that was a big one for Phil....unless he has a secret....

Damn, just as the whole series is hotting up there is only one more episode in this run and then there's a break before the last 12, isn't there?

TheHighwayCod · 13/11/2006 18:43

moonshine · 20/11/2006 16:34

Am I the only one in mourning then, cos it looks like no more Sopranos until spring? Last episode was great but strange - not much resolved but a real air of menance surrounding that little guy in Phil's 'Family' (can't think of his name but Tony seemed to suss him when he went to visit Phil in hospital).

Pauli is definitely one the best but really miss Tony's mum - she was a great character.

TheHighwayCod · 20/11/2006 16:37

oh dont
i have only half watched it

moonshine · 20/11/2006 17:27

I would definitely save that other half for the dark days ahead....

TheHighwayCod · 20/11/2006 21:19

do you thihk Juliana is an informer/

moonshine · 20/11/2006 23:23

omg, that never occurred to me [thinks deeply]. No, I don't, but I do think she could will play a significant part in the destruction of one of them - Tony for a very surprise twist but more likely Christopher. And what about when Carmella finds out about Adriana. She has to find out surely!
