You buy a Now TV box, connect it to your tv and to your wifi. Then you pay a monthly subscription. We got 3 months entertainment package free when we bought ours. You can also download the app so you can watch on other devices. I really like it, there's lots of boxsets on there that aren't on Netflix.

how do i buy the box?

I just got now tv. I got the box from tesco direct for £20 with 3 months free entertainment pass.
We've just got a free 30 day pass for sky movies as well.
I'm liking at the moment. Especially as the box is so little that i can take it and connect it to the telly upstairs as well. Only downside is that there are no subtitles whatsoever on any programme and my hearing is crap.

Rollergirl1 · 18/02/2015 21:34

Got ours from Tesco.

purplefeathers · 19/02/2015 01:01

We have subtitles, fairgame. I was struggling to turn them off earlier after one of the kids put them on.

fairgame · 19/02/2015 08:28

Oh really? There might be a chance that I can understand what they are saying on fortitude Grin
I was looking all over the forums on the now tv website and everyone was saying you can't get them.

You happen to know how your kids turned them on by any chance do you?

StillaChocoholic · 19/02/2015 10:03

Fairgame rather than taking the box with you you can buy another one for a tenner and connect it to your account. You can have up to 6 devices connected to your account including boxes, tablets, phones

I love my now tv box. It comes with iplayer, 4od, YouTube and loads of other apps. I think it's quite cheap as well and there is some really good boxsets that I'm working my way through. Can't wait for Game of Thrones to start, I'll watch it on catch up on the now tv box and DH will still be able to watch it on his iPad whilst he's away.

DougalTheCheshireCat · 19/02/2015 10:10

Check carefully, though, because I don't think Sky Atlantic is available on Now TV (though it might be now, they change the offer and pricing all the time).

TarkaTheOtter · 19/02/2015 10:15

We watch now tv through our Apple TV box. I like the set up of the apple box (has lots of other apps on it too including netflix) but it is more expensive than the now tv box by the sounds of it.

fairgame · 19/02/2015 11:26

Sky Atlantic is on now tv at the moment. You can catch it up or watch it live. I got my box specifically for fortitude which is on Atlantic.
I have to say the movies pass is great and I will probably keep it aftet the free trial.

HatieKokpins · 19/02/2015 14:46

Now TV is ace, we watched all three series of Stella over Christmas. With that, Amazon Prime and Netflix, we don't need Sky proper, as we can't have a dish or cable, either.

vicarinatutu · 19/02/2015 21:25

right....so how do you set it up? im a complete technophobe....do i need my ds to come and sort it?

can anyone link to the box? are there different packages? i cant miss game of thrones......

you need to set up an account on the now tv website. then you plug in the box, connect the box to your wifi and put in your log in details that you used for the website and you're done.

It is easy vicar. My 70 year old mum figured hers out herself. I felt quite redundant!!

vicarinatutu · 19/02/2015 22:44

your 70 year old mum is probably ahead of me in the technology stakes! seriously.
i am rubbish.

i only have to look at something to break it if it has buttons.

I think you can create your Now account directly from the box once you've connected to your TV and wifi. It remembers your log-in and automatically logs in when you start it.

PrimalLass · 19/02/2015 23:40

We have a Roku box and watch nowtv through it. Plus Netflix etc.

RebootYourEngine · 20/02/2015 09:40

How do u get subtitles?

dajmibuzi · 21/02/2015 17:15

I have just bought one. As in half an hour ago.

Just setting it up now and trying to decided what passes to get...

Took me about an hour to work out what it what/does/has whatever. Why is it more elusive than Netflix?

purplefeathers · 26/02/2015 10:29

The subtitles were on i player so i think they were more an i player thing than a general now tv thing. sorry!
