I hardly think Harold Pinter would authorise his casting in three of his play's if he was the world's worst actors.

mumofthemonsters808 · 29/12/2014 21:49

My friend adores him, I can't stand him and I don't think he can act for toffee. I don't think he is handsome but she lusts after him, he comes across in interviews as being a bit thick but very cocky. I'll never forget watching him in a documentary I think it was about football hooligans and it was like a comedy he was that bad.

MuttonCadet · 29/12/2014 21:52

And then he turned up high on coke and pissed him off, hugely.

HollyJollyXmas · 29/12/2014 21:56

I like the character he plays in EE. Although he doesnt have a great range, granted.

But come on...he's not the worst, is he? He is up against Phil 'had the same grimace for twenty years' Mitchell, Shirley 'same ropey old cockney bird role in everything she has ever been in' Carter...and Sharon. SHARON FFS.

Its hardly a BAFTA line-up.

I think he's actually bought some real east end to eastenders! Think the whole rape storyline has been incredible, Danny dyer and Kellie bright who plays Linda have been amazing, a deserve some awards. Danny dyer is a good, realistic, cockney actor. Get over it Smile

TheLastThneed · 29/12/2014 23:38

I think he's funny.

Dev in Corrie is awful...

Is Dev even still in it?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/12/2014 09:35

I know there have been hints about his temper but the 0-60 pub demolision scene was Shock and one of the most powerful scenes.

When he does his tortured face he does look like he's trying to squeeze out a very solid turd.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/12/2014 09:36

Is Dev even still in it

sadly , yes.

southeastastra · 30/12/2014 09:58

I liked him in a film he did with gillian Anderson and severance ? I've met him he was decent enough I don't think he professes to be anything he's not really. quite unpretentious

GahLinDah · 30/12/2014 10:03

Dev wins the crown. He's so bad, that far away, eyes half closed expression. And the draaaaaaaawwwwwwlllly speaking voice.

Martin Freeman brings bland everyman to every part he plays, even Bilbo Baggins.
He's turning a bit Simon Pegg though, i.e swiftly disappearing up his own arse.

Ujjayi · 30/12/2014 12:11

I have been pleasantly surprised by Danny Dyer in EE. Whilst not one of the greats, he does play the character well - but perhaps we are also swayed by Mick being such a "decent bloke" rather than the bland rent-a-thug male EE characters that we are used to.

Agree that Leticia Dean has no reason to refer to herself as an actress. She is completely dire.

spidey66 · 30/12/2014 12:45

I wouldn't kick him out of bed for farting.

thornrose · 30/12/2014 12:49

I just wish he'd open his eyes!

Nancy66 · 30/12/2014 12:50

it's like he's doing a Marlon Brando in The Godfather impression

Santassleighisreversing · 30/12/2014 20:32

Barbara Windsor is shocking.

I don't dislike her as a person, but I cringe when she's referred to as a legend.

She can't act for shit and the part of Peggy would have been played better by almost anyone else.

Madamecastafiore · 30/12/2014 21:53

In one scene I watched he was being particularly tender, or that's what his words led you to believe but his stance and tone of voice could have been mistaken for being on the verge of snapping Linda's neck.

OP posts:
thornrose · 30/12/2014 21:55

He grabs his daughter round the face affectionately too!

RedTinsel · 30/12/2014 22:13

Thornrose he did it to Linda's mum as well he was virtually snogging her.

He seems like a knobber IRL, and he can't act, but I love Mick. He's such a great character.
He doesn't have much range, his proposal to Linda was a bit creepy.

Oh.......,,,,,,,and.........the............dramatic................pauses. Just stop it.

thornrose · 30/12/2014 22:16

I met him in RL, years ago. It was at a childrens party at McDonalds. He was coked up to the eyeballs and with a girl from Hollyoaks! Grin

aoife24 · 30/12/2014 23:40

Mark Kermode's take off of him on the film review programme on 5 Live makes me laugh. Danny Dyer threatened to punch him for it.
