With Frances Mcwotsit amongst many others? I haven't finished it yet, it was so long, but what I have watched so far was excellent!

I've yet to watch it but looking forward very much - the novel (well actually it's a series of linked stories) is brilliant.

Oh I didn't realize it was an adaptation! I watched about an hour, it was excellent!

I watched it and absolutely loved it. Frances mcdormand was excellent but it was the actor who played her husband Henry who really stole the show for me . Really moving

Yes, I saw it and I thought it was fab. Very moving, well acted and thought provoking. I will come back when you have finished as I want to talk about the end, the beginning and other bits in between...
Love the actors Frances McDormand, Richard Jenkins and Peter Mullan (?) I think Martha Wainwright is the piano player in the bar too. I'll have to check that tho.

Can't quite believe it was a 2 part series. Episodes seemed to go on for a very long time. 100 + minutes when I last looked! Not that I'm complaining...

I watched it, the acting was excellent and some great dark humour too, like when Henry was feeding Denise at dinner. I have never watched Frances McDormand in anything rubbish though, I first saw her in Mississippi Burning and she was brilliant in it.

I started watching this,on your recommendations, and didn't stop. It was fantastic. Reminded me of a lighter Fargo, and I see that Frances McDormand was in that too.

I enjoyed it, DH OTOH said 'what a pile of pish!'.

Pinkwillow · 19/12/2014 21:40

Pah! What do DH's know. I have to say that he didn't whinge through 'Gone Girl' film though. Excellent.

SisterNancySinatra · 19/12/2014 21:46

I watched it with my DH and we both loved it, he thought it really touching actually . We thought the acting really good although it was at times a little depressing.

Just finished it. Makes my heart sing watching fantastic TV productions like this one. Superb acting and brilliant cinematography.

I've just finished watching too, sitting here with red eyes.
Brilliant acting throughout, it really affected me as my dc have moved away and I've got a little dog that goes everywhere with meSad
The scene in the woods when she just howled silently was so moving.
