Greetings

I am alone in the house and watching from behind the duvet. Is anyone there to watch with this gibbering wet? I might have to turn it off otherwise.

I must have misheard. I thought Tom said that 10 crew members, and one unidentified passenger(Isha) died on the boat, but the article at the end said there were no survivors.

ThisFenceIsComfy · 07/12/2014 22:17

But why was she happy when he killed her by singing the song? Maybe he was keeping her? Oh god I don't understand.

Corygal · 07/12/2014 22:20

My revised theory: Isha's haunting of Tom kept him alive beyond the natural span. When she died, he just faded away in the boat.

Other thoughts: Why did Tom say Oh, Isha would never hurt a child, when Isha was whizzing Sean underwater as he spoke?

Did Tom finally end the song - and his and Isha's lives - because he saw her trying to finish Sean off?

Was he trying to swap himself for Sean? Give her someone else to look after?

Corygal · 07/12/2014 22:27

Fence - that makes perfect sense!! Hooray.

Anyway, I'm just glad it was all resolved, and I don't have to be frightened any more.
Perhaps paving the way for a series, with the nice detective, and the nice young woman who works in the care home (sorry, am shit with names), teaming up to solve numerous supernatural crimes.

Corygal · 07/12/2014 22:31

Yes, those two were lovely. Mark Addy makes a brilliant copper. I have just about calmed down enough to nip to bed with the cat now, although the animal is resentful as its late-night snack is late.

I think Corygal and Fence are correct, Isha and Tom now together but dead...but who killed the people who died ? Tom possibly......excellent drama, but glad I did not watch it alone....

W00woo · 07/12/2014 22:34

I think that she was looking after him until he pushed his wife down the stairs. Then she haunted him for doing that. Otherwise why would she keep on throwing the shells down the stairs as a reminder that he pushed his wife?

But that doesn't make sense as to why she kill everyone else.

Am confused!!!

meltedmonterayjack · 07/12/2014 22:35

I'm glad you've resolved it :) I'm STILL confused though! So Isha had the power to keep Tom alive as long as she wanted to?

And Tom was sick of being alive and was trying to get Isha to look after Sean instead, so he could die?

Or were Tom and Isha both ghosts. Please can someone explain it to an idiot?

ThisFenceIsComfy · 07/12/2014 22:40

I still don't quite understand why she was happy he was singing the ending though. Unless she wanted him to let her go but wouldn't let him die until he had?

ThisFenceIsComfy · 07/12/2014 22:42

I might write to the BBC Smile

Corygal · 07/12/2014 22:46

Open endings are not acceptable in horror, hrumph. What are the BBC thinking? It's Sunday night!

Mind you, I thought the most petrifying thing was turning cuddly national treasure Michael Palin into a murderer and ghost-conjurer.

Why did Isha cover Sean's room with Shells?

ThisFenceIsComfy · 07/12/2014 22:51

Why did she make the Shirley woman's murder look like a suicide?

ThisFenceIsComfy · 07/12/2014 22:52

The more I think, the more questions I have tbh

Corygal · 07/12/2014 22:58

Me too. And the last thing I want after a fright like that is to spend the rest of the night thinking about it.

Will check the reviews tomorrow in hope of enlightenment.

I am still slightly confused by some of the events.

Watched it with DH and tried to fathom it all out, but we didn't understand what happened at the end.

Tom just vanished. he didn't fall in the pond -as there was no splash or movement.

So - was he a ghost/dead already?

Hmmm..

Liked it though as it was set in my town :)

iwantgin · 08/12/2014 08:50

And most of the accents were pretty true to life.

I'm a bit lost too, though I enjoyed itConfused

pinkmoomin · 08/12/2014 10:26

The biggest pile of nonsense I've watched in a long time. Shame, as the Yorkshire setting was hauntingly beautiful and there was some good acting amongst.

CaffeLatteIceCream · 08/12/2014 10:41

Yes, absolute nonsense.

And I genuinely wonder how grown women can possibly be "terrified" of fiction on the TV staring Michael Palin.

DreamingofSummer · 08/12/2014 10:41

Two good episodes ruined by a lousy third. With so many loose ends left hanging...

Why did Isha kill the social worker and care worker?
Why did she want to drown Sean?
What was the shrine in the attic all about?
Why did the neighbour take £5,000 from Tom's account? If he had £5,000 why was his electric cut off?
Why was Sean's bedroom covered in shells? etc etc etc.

susiella · 08/12/2014 10:58

Nonsensical rubbish. Not scary. Holes in the plot you could drive a truck through.
Very disappointing.

reddaisy · 08/12/2014 11:18

Ok, I will try and answer some of your questions, DreamingofSummer..

Why did Isha kill the social worker and care worker?
The first one was because she blamed the social worker for taking Tom away from her (ie removing him from the house where they were together)

Why did she want to drown Sean?
She was using him as bait, trying to force Tom to come back to her, the detective said: "She only wants you, let the children go etc"

What was the shrine in the attic all about?
I guess a plot device! But perhaps Tom created it for her when they effectively lived together

Why did the neighbour take £5,000 from Tom's account? If he had £5,000 why was his electric cut off? Missed that bit!
