Tonight Channel Five 6.20 - 8.00pm. Its the live action Terry Jones one with Steve Coogan and Stephen Fry. Haven't seen it before, but we'll be watching in pyjamas.

Ooh thanks - ds and dd love WitW. We'll have to record it - no staying up late on a school night .

roisin · 08/10/2006 17:16

Is it good does anyone know? I never liked WitW; book left me cold. But it might keep ds1 quiet for a bit

Anything directed by Terry Jones and starring Stephen Fry has to be good!

Well, from reviews I'm not sure if its exactly a classic - but it certainly has a good cast. IMDB gives it 6 and a half out of ten. Observer thinks its "charming" Radio times thinks it's "clumsy". (I doubt DS will think that though )

Just had a skim through the blurb on Ch5 site - don't generally care for films that feel the need to 'improve' on the book, but for this cast I'm willing to make allowances and pretend that it's based on the book, rather than a dramtisation.

Bump Bump - It's on Now!

Great thanks. A bedtime treat for all. (and I get some unhindered computer time )

Just to warn any of you that haven't seen it, it's really not like the book. It's a bit of a classic case of 'we know better than the author'. I've got a lovely animation of it with Michael Hordern, David Jason etc which is far truer to the story (though even there they feel they have to change it a bit).

i really liked the david jason version of wind in the willows it was v cute

roisin · 08/10/2006 20:05

We enjoyed it
10 mins in ds1 announced that the costumes weren't very good, and it was tedious and dull. But then the weasels appeared, and he was soon gripped.
