SCD 2014 #3: When we hopefully lose some of the ones who can't actually dance...

Carrying on from thread two.

I thought we might be a bit short on space on the old thread (especially if somebody we like goes!) so here's a shiny new one for Hallowe'en results onwards Smile

OP posts:
R4roger · 03/11/2014 06:46

I must say the singer who sung Wuthering Heights did it very well.
Another one who can't warm to Pixie and thingummy, Frankie.

MY dd said Pixie is a good dancer, she has seen her videos, so that is before Strictly. hmph.
love Alijah, since last year's Saturday Night Fever, so good to see a man who can dance, is my excuse Blush,
thank god common sense prevailed and Scott went. where are his fans?

HowlCapone · 03/11/2014 08:39

Alijaz does nothing for me at all. Thank god.

Annie Lennox still sounds fab. Unlike Boy George the other week.

R4roger · 03/11/2014 08:46

i like Anton this year. He is funny. Is this the Anton effect?

Lottapianos · 03/11/2014 11:26

Nor me Howl - he seems lovely but don't find him remotely attractive.

Annie Lennox looked and sounded fantastic. Hope I look that good when I'm nearly 60!

AppleYumYum · 03/11/2014 11:35

Think Annie Lennox was doing her own dancing in the absence of the pros! She's still got it.

OnlyLovers · 03/11/2014 14:19

Loved Alison. Who doesn't secretly want the chance to waft about to Wuthering Heights, going nuts in an 'interpretive movement class' way?

I am not a fan of Aljaz's looks usually, but he was hawt with his eye make-up on. I quite fancied most of the men in their slap actually Blush: Simon, Jake, Trent ... Pasha looked like a woman but/and disturbingly attractive ...

I thought Jake did a better paso than Simon and the marks should have been the other way round.
Frankie was DULL. Craig and Bruno liked it because they're old musical-theatre queens and she's young and pretty.
Caroline was too slick and I was just gazing at Pasha.
Mark was very good indeed and I love Karen.
Scott's acting was great, the dancing still poor, but a clever routine by Joanne.
I didn't mind Judy but they should demand their money back for those rubbish dogs.
Sunetra didn't have her best dance but I just LOVE to watch her. Her whole being lights up when she dances.
Steve was given too many scary lifts. Wonder if that was Ola going for entertainment value, or the producers?
I'm not a Pixie fan but I rather liked that. Bonkers in a stylish kind of way.

Claudia and Zoe presenting would be a RIOT. Tess will have to have that gig prised out of her cold dead hands though.

Lottapianos · 03/11/2014 15:39

Cold and dead? Perfect description of Tess' presenting style OnlyLovers! The only thing she has going for her is that she's absolutely stunning and looks fabulous even in some of the ghastly dresses she wears.

Was well impressed with Zoe, I've always found her really annoying before now.

Frankie was amazing but that was a weird awful choice of song for a tango. Very much approve of Kevin's tight shiny trousers though Wink

I think Mark is looking more and more like a dark horse

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 03/11/2014 15:57

Is Ola pregnant, do we think? She looked like she might be early stages 'apple podgy' in her and steve's dance.

Obv she is not podgy, but podgy for her, iyswim

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 03/11/2014 15:58

Seems risky to do all those lifts if she is, of course.

OnlyLovers · 03/11/2014 15:59

Lotta, quite! Although I don't even think she's stunning; sorry Tess, don't mean to be unsisterly but you don't do it for me.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 03/11/2014 15:59

P.S. I have always thought dave arch and his live singers were shoite.

OnlyLovers · 03/11/2014 16:05

I thought the singers and band were very good this week (and I am not above taking the piss out of them all the time occasionally).

I liked their version of 'Poison' and thought the woman singer (Hayley?) did a fantastic job of the fiendishly difficult 'Wuthering Heights'.

Then again, what they do in general is hugely impressive, IMO: getting all those songs, in wildly differing styles, at very short notice, then arranging, rehearsing and performing them all. I take my hat off to them.

Lottapianos · 03/11/2014 16:14

They are deeply shite Squeezy although coped quite well this week I thought. Wuthering Heights could have been utterly horrendous but actually wasn't bad at all

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 03/11/2014 16:15

I can't sing for toffee so...

rubyflipper · 03/11/2014 16:20

Did anyone notice how Pixie's smile became a little more fixed when Darcey was correcting her? Like this - Grin.

I think Pixie was expecting to be told by every judge how fabulous she is.

MelanieCheeks · 03/11/2014 16:29

See, I quite like Frankie, but possibly only because she looks so like my daughter.

In fact, "Melanie cries at Frankie's dance" is one of our Strickly Bingo things, along with:

Any comment of the "Snot fair, she was at stage school" variety
Dave Arch and his wonderful orchestra
Mr Cheeks remarking "Must have an album out" at whoever sings on the results show
Darcey saying "the boys are right"
Ola wearing a piece of string.

Grin
Snowstorm · 03/11/2014 17:14

Ha!ha! @ MelanieCheeks Strictly Bingo!!! Grin

OnlyLovers · 03/11/2014 17:37

How about Len saying 'You come aahht', Bruno flailing/high-kicking/falling off his chair or Claudia telling us all to 'go loop the loop' for whatever third-stringer 'incredible' pop person is plugging their new album this week?

LeBearPolar · 03/11/2014 19:03

Now our Strictly Bingo includes any reference to 'core' or 'armography' by Darcey, or any icky lustful comment she makes about the male slebs.

Snowstorm · 03/11/2014 20:06

icky lustful comments by Darcey - Grin

Changing the subject just a little. Weirdly enough I find Kevin strangely masterful/attractive when he's dancing but off the dance floor and particularly when he's on the sofa on ITT, he seems to regress into a somewhat short-sighted, giggly, babyfaced young boy ... Do you know what I mean? Find a little bit of the same with Pasha (gasp!) too ...

Is that just me?

OttiliaVonBCup · 03/11/2014 20:08

'You're telling a story' from Darcey

LeBearPolar · 03/11/2014 20:23

Not just you, Snowstorm - I watch him dancing the paso and just want him to sweep me off my feet and stamp at me (paso-style) and then he stops dancing and is twelve years old again and I feel slightly dirty.

Not the same with Pasha fortunately.

Snowstorm · 03/11/2014 20:48

Ha!ha! at the paso-style stamping at you!!!!!!!!!!
Glad it's not just me who finds the apparent transformation unnerving.

Pasha looks best just a little mean and moody and not smiley and PR friendly on the sofa I think.

Lottapianos · 03/11/2014 21:56

Pasha is a lovely looking bloke but there's something a bit too sweet and child-like about him for me

Kevin is just edible in all contexts, geeky glasses and all

Icimoi · 03/11/2014 23:03

MooseBeTime, I've always assumed that the pro dances, whether on their own or with singers, must be recorded separately simply because there would never be time for those massive changes of clothes, hair and make-up if it was live. Has anyone been to a recording? How does it work?
