SCD 2014 #3: When we hopefully lose some of the ones who can't actually dance...

Carrying on from thread two.

I thought we might be a bit short on space on the old thread (especially if somebody we like goes!) so here's a shiny new one for Hallowe'en results onwards Smile

I've always been a Pasha girl myself, and didn't really notice Aljaz last year. I kinda thought he was so nice to Abi because they fancied each other were really close but now I've seen how nice he is with Alison too I just LOVE him.

Now I'm torn between Pash and Aljaz and seeing them there side by side waiting for the verdict kind of represented what's going on in my thought process..Pasha or Aljaz, Pasha or Aljaz??

Rubyrooo · 09/11/2014 20:47

Ooh, yes. That's totally it with Kevin - he thinks he's going to win! I'm not sure boring old Frankie is winner material.

Really hope Steve is with Helen Glover - they'd be a fab couple as much as I'd be gutted

applehumble · 09/11/2014 20:47

Oh, and there was some dancing too, wasn't there? Grin

digerd · 09/11/2014 20:53

.Agree with the others about Caroline's hair-do and dress especially for the elegant waltz - dreadful.

She needs a dropped waisted dress to elongate her short waisted body and her hair piled up neatly on top.

Shed a tear for Alison as she did put everything she had into her dances unlike Judy.

LeBearPolar · 09/11/2014 20:55

OK: this is the weird thing. Aljaz was born in 1990 and Trent in 1986. But Trent looks too young - like one of my sixth-form students and it just feels icky to fancy him. But Aljaz is in fact four years younger than him... Confused

braveandcrazy · 09/11/2014 21:08

For those of you looking for the spoiler may I suggest Strictly Newswire on twitter. It links to the result about 10.30pm each Saturday, no need to trawl through the Digital Spy forum.

Also for strictly gossip James Jordan is being funny on twitter, especially with the Steve/Ola stories this weekend. He suggested the BBC don't want
Ola to do the live tour and want an excuse to partner Steve with someone else.

OttiliaVonBCup · 09/11/2014 21:09

He's not helping her there, is he.

FryOneFatManic · 09/11/2014 21:13

I've heard somewhere that disappointed Scottish Yes voters are the ones voting for Judy.

Meanwhile, 14 yr old DD reckons Claudia and Zoe would be a better pairing than Tess and Claudia. Tess seems to have about as much animation as Nelson's Column, I've never warmed to her.

Redcoats · 09/11/2014 21:14

I didn't realise Alijaz was so young, I'm feeling a bit pervy now.

I won't miss Alison, I don't think she's that much better than Judy really.

Agree that Caroline looked shocking tonight, what a dreadful dress.
I'm also not into Zoe's outfits, she looks a bit mumsy. I much prefer the stuff she wears in ITT.

Chipstick10 · 09/11/2014 21:49

Who the fuck is voting for judy ? She's wooden. Sexless. Stiff. Not amusing. Try's very hard to be self a facing. Get rid .

RustyParker · 09/11/2014 21:49

Alison was so desperate and cringey in her speech to Alijaz "we'll keep in touch yeah?" or something like that at the end. And wtf was the "I love you, as a friend". That's it Alison, let Alijaz down gently Hmm

Cannot warm to Pixie (or Vicky Lott as she's known in this house). She is too full of herself.

Simon Webbe is a very attractive man but he knows it. I know someone who had a ons with him, while he had a girlfriend, and he treated her so rudely the next morning and was practically forcing her out of the door. I'm not keen on the way the members of Blue treat women generally tbh so I can't brnig myself to vote for him even though he is the celeb with the more tradition "journey" on the show.

Jake has dipped which is such a shame as he started with such promise. Where did those hips from the Samba disappear to in the Rhumba??

Although Frankie is a little dull, I like that she is quite private and doesn't flaunt her relationship or child. Steve is another fave here!

FrontForward · 09/11/2014 21:56

I like Jake. I agree he hasn't followed form from the first show

SheHasAWildHeart · 09/11/2014 22:03

Apparently (according to DigitalSpy) the dress designers said on ITT that Caroline is very self-conscious of her bust and stomach & asks for them to be covered up. Although I think the dresses have been drawing attention to her bust :/

wheresthebeach · 09/11/2014 22:16

Agree Judy needs to go...it's past a joke now.
Poor Steve - you get the feeling he'd be relieved to be done.

awaynboilyurheid · 09/11/2014 22:18

Cannot believe anyone would vote for Judy, so please don't blame Scots whether we voted yes or no surely no one thinks she can dance Poor Anton! she is a lovely lady but its time to go, expect he will need to put lots of lifts as she is good at them, he can lift her and she stays rigid like a plank of wood. Simon def knows he is handsome but he danced very well suprised I quite like him because usually think something arrogant and not very nice about Blue members.

Tensmumym · 09/11/2014 22:24

I like that Judy isn't bothered by the comments of the judges. I think she tries her best but isn't taking it too seriously. She said on ITT that she doesn't feel stiff when she dances and only realises how stiff she is when she watches herself the tape of the dance. She also said she doesn't care what Craig said which I think is refreshing compared to the over-emoting of Mark and others. Anton is also very funny. Loved it when Andy was dancing with Judy that Anton said he could see where Andy got his stiffness from.

I think Alison's comment last week that she never wanted to be in the bottom two again made it much more likely that she would be but I'll miss their partnership and her joie de vivre.

I also find Pixie irritating but if she keeps coming top it'll be a while before she's in the bottom two and even then the judges will always keep her so she looks a cert for the final.

Shame about Caroline and Pasha being in the bottom two as she seems great - beautiful dancer with a good personality. Maybe this will ensure that she gets more votes from now on.

It is interesting to have a look at James Jordan on Twitter. All of Ola's former partners are really supportive of her and it does feel a bit like a story cooked up by a production team. However, surely the programme could just drop her as they have with other dancers? Neither Steve nor Ola come well out of the story as it has been told.

Roonerspism · 09/11/2014 22:35

I have really warmed to Judy though. She doesn't take herself too seriously. I haven't warmed to many of the others this series for that reason.

And she and Anton are a great pairing.

I don't know how much of the Ola story I believe but he just seems completely wet.

FrontForward · 09/11/2014 22:44

James Jordan comes over like an online bully tbh because of his behaviour. He named a member of BBC staff and encouraged others to bomb her personal Twitter feed. It's laughable that he's accusing the Beeb of releasing stories when you read his ranting. It's childish and embarrassing.

FrontForward · 09/11/2014 22:47

I've always thought Ola seemed petulant. It does seem odd that a celeb feels bullied but just because you deal with crocs doesn't make you immune. I imagine his ability to deal with her is because he doesn't deal with women and wasn't expecting it.
He looked really downcast when they got through.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 09/11/2014 22:51

I am new to this SCD lark. It's the first season that I have watched. In summary:

  • I'm gutted that first Thom and now Aljaz (sp?) are now out. It's like the British public hates hotness.
  • Frankie looks like she's being forced to dance at gunpoint. Good dancer but exhausted and tense-looking most of the time - even during the samba.
  • Pixie, meh. Her and Trent remind me of Amy Poehler and Will Arnett in Blades of Glory but without the comedy - all that creepy plastic blondness.
  • Jake seems to have lost his mojo.
  • The Steve v Ola story has the whiff of behind the scenes bullshit to me. "Bullying" is targeted behaviour that intimidates and alienates someone.
  • Gutted that Alison's out and Judy's still in - Alison was rubbish but at least she was entertaining to watch.

I think I'm team Simon n Kristina, or maybe Pacha and Caroline. Although the latter were quite dull this week.

Chipstick10 · 09/11/2014 23:03

Judy blatantly used andy to stay in this week. It was beyond cringe. As I have said before Frankie and pixie leave me cold, not a hint of a personality between them

SmellyFartado · 09/11/2014 23:13

Stayed away from thread as I looked up the spoiler last night to avoid KJ. Ended up tuning in after the warbler to see little Steve's sad face at another week with Ogre.....see what I did there. Stunningly beautiful woman but married to prize idiot and CBB bully James Jordan. Says it all. I wouldn't want to train and spend time with her either.

Also love Caroline and so glad that Alison finally gone. Judy has got to be next to go. She dances like she's trying to stifle a fart. Perhaps she is....

Behoove · 09/11/2014 23:17

Give over with the "Scots voting for Judy" shite please. I like to think we all vote for our favourites without nationality bias well I do anyway
I think she is getting votes because the judges are being so very nasty and her partnership with Anton certainly has entertainment value.

I want Mark to win this year, no previous training and he seems like a lovely person too.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 10/11/2014 00:17

I suppose if she's a bit frustrated (about Strictly in general), and he's not picking things up as quickly as she'd like it could all be getting a bit tense.

I've done it myself - I had a partner at university who wasn't as good as me, so our practices involved a lot of me 'training' him. We didn't get on well enough for it to be fun (we weren't a good match actually - without the dancing I doubt I'd have tried to make friends with him), and I was a bit stressed with my degree, and when I had to go over and over things with him it felt like such a chore. I just couldn't understand how he wasn't getting it and felt like I was wasting my time. I knew I was being horrible and sarcastic to him, but just couldn't seem to stop myself. In the end we split, because it just wasn't fun for either of us - I was constantly complaining at him, and we weren't good enough to compete (my 'reward').

So I can see how it can happen. Although, she is a dance teacher, so should be better at it than me!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 10/11/2014 00:24

Just to clarify - I'm not saying it is true (and I've always thought Ola seems nice), but I can see how it could happen.

I've seen a couple (living together and engaged) have a flaming row at a practice session and go home separately over who got their timing wrong in one bar of cha cha - that was the week before a competition, and everybody was on edge. So on Strictly, with that level of pressure all the time...

It isn't really any wonder they end up fighting or bonking.
