Gambling/x-box 18 games etc etc.

If we're watching a family programme (before watershed) then why do tv stations show these adverts??????

another one on now, guns/murder/bombs.

If the above are all for over 18s why show them before 9pm?

Am I being Mary Whitehouse or does anyone else agree?

I agree. Completely unsuitable pre watershed.

Mrsjayy · 16/10/2014 22:35

Sky showed a ad for a horror film the other night at 8 30 I shit a brick got a fright yanbu

MmeMorrible · 16/10/2014 22:38

I totally agree. Some of the horror film ads are truly terrifying. I don't want to watch them and I certainly don't want the DCs to see them either.

ppeatfruit · 17/10/2014 12:28

Complain (I have close relations who work in telly and they always look at the complaints).

Of course it's probably because they can't have adverts selling shxx kids' food so they're putting out adverts for shxx films. Angry

8eafruit Ive told OFCOM before but they obv haven't taken any notice!

Best to email or whatever the actual stations. And the ASA (if it still exists Grin )

AnyoneForTARDIS · 17/10/2014 18:27

Or people dancing all over the place (have you noticed that the agencies copy one another ? It's either that or they're all the same agency).

Oh and car ads. where they 're driving on the moon because there's hardly ever another car in them!

BiggerYellowTaxi · 18/10/2014 07:20

Virgin show trailers for horror movies on the On-demand page. So while I'm trying to find a show for my 3 year there is all sorts of scary shit going on in the corner if the screen. We don't use it any more.

Iggly · 18/10/2014 07:22

Complain to the TV companies. Tell them it makes you switch off the adverts - that'll make them listen even if you do anyway like me

Pointlessfan · 18/10/2014 07:23

I agree 100% but at work they do call me Mary Whitehouse!

wherethewildthingis · 18/10/2014 07:31

I agree and I also wish YouTube wouldn't put these adverts on before children's programmes! Mr Tumble preceded by five seconds of sex and violence is not good.

lightgreenglass · 18/10/2014 07:47

Definitely agree, and on youtube - I had an advert for Carrie before twinkle twinkle little star!

bluevanman · 18/10/2014 07:48

Re YouTube ads- if you're using Chrome/Firefox/Opera get an addon called ad-block plus. Free, easy install, no more YouTube ads, or anywhere else!
