Does Spiral accurately depict the French police?

I have been watching Spiral on Netflix and can't believe the way the French police are shown to behave. I'm sure, as usual, things are a exaggerated, but there's so much to wonder about ........ the interviewing in offices (rather than interview rooms), no recording except occasional video taping which they stop when it suits them, the rough treatment (beating) of suspects and even witnesses, no lawyers in sight......
Has anyone got any knowledge or experience tha enables them to say how accurate this is please?

The informal interviewing is correct although I think the law on that changes through the series.

French Police are rather yobbish in my experience.

It's fab though isn't it?

I've got the dvd's. I believe I saw this in France a few years ago but not sure. Obvs there was no english subtitles but we did not need it. We were mesmeriised!!

I absolutely love the foreign stuff like this, Wallender and the Belgium one that was on tv recently - forgot hat it is called but that was great too.

Braquo (also about Paris police and very gritty) is also good, if you haven't discovered that yet.

I haven't seen Spiral, but I do know that the French police are way behind the brits in terms if thoroughness and efficiency. I know a French police inspector who spent some time in the UK on a cross channel case a while ago and he said the visiting French police felt like amareurs after seeing how things were done here.

No idea but I love it!

Love Roban & loathe Josephine!

Yes I think that's true pebblestack. Remember the case of the little girl murdered and sexually assaulted in that Normandy village a few years ago? French Police didn't even take DNA swabs from the men in the village, nor did they close off the roads. The bastard was identified and arrested almost accidentally in the U.S. by the American Police.
