They were NOT on a break. They spoke on the phone and Rachel said she didn't want to be on a break, Ross agreed, they were happy together. THEN Ross heard Mark in the background and that was why he cheated. He even admitted he only had sex with Chloe because he had jumped to conclusions about Mark. They were not on a break. He was being a twat.

Oh no I just love Ross. Funniest character on friends imo. But then in the past I've always been sort of attracted to geeky control freaks.

No no no. He behaved like a twat and they argued in the flat and Rachel suggested they needed a break and he stormed off. Both realised they wanted to be together and the phone call was friendly and loved up. Both said they wanted to be together. THEN Ross heard Mark's voice in the background, hung up and went off and shagged another woman.

The episode where he goes in the tanning machine thingy redeems any Ross wrongdoing. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Having just rewatched it on You tube. They argued. She said I want to take a break. He said yeah great idea let's go and cool off get ice cream etc. She said no a break from us.

He left. Mark phoned and invited himself over. Rachel phoned Ross and before she could say it was a mistake he heard Mark's voice in background and jumped to conclusions and put down phone. Mark was blatently trying to move in on Rachel at that point though I don't think Rachel was interested ( can't remember if they ever got together maybe someone can remind me).
