Single woman approaching 60 wants a 5 bed house near Salisbury with a budget of 1 million!

Why???

Yep. Bizarre isn't it?

She likes to entertain apparently. Confused

SwedishEdith · 31/05/2014 13:33

Yes Thinking exactly the same Grin Her money her choice etc but Why?

Sparklingbrook · 31/05/2014 13:33

Soap making lady is wearing goggles. Grin

Yeah but did you notice how unattached she was to her family home of 40 years she's just inherited!!

Maybe she wants to open a B&B

Sparklingbrook · 31/05/2014 13:37

i bet she doesn't wear them normally-it's for the Beeb Wink

SwedishEdith · 31/05/2014 13:37

I suspect she became very unattached as soon as a developer offered 1 million for it Envy

17leftfeet · 31/05/2014 13:39

I don't like this house -it would be like living in a barn

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 31/05/2014 13:40

I couldn't be doing with all the maintenance and cleaning required. I would be buying a swish penthouse apartment in the middle of a town with all mod cons personally.

17leftfeet · 31/05/2014 13:45

I think country living would be brilliant in theory but I would worry about being old and unable to access medical care etc, especially as that area is commuter belt so not exactly neighbourly

I have family there, I'm not being countryside-ist

YY 17 it's all a bit remote for single living.

They are saying 'cosy' but with the high ceilings I am just seeing draughty and a bugger to heat. Confused

All those stairs too-not great if this is her forever home.

Mrsjayy · 31/05/2014 17:09

I nodded off Blush did she buy any ofthe house she was a strange old girl wasnt she

17leftfeet · 31/05/2014 17:20

She bought the vicarage

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 31/05/2014 17:25

Aw did she that was my favourite

17leftfeet · 31/05/2014 17:35

It was definitely the nicest house but far too big for her, I wonder how long she lasts before she sells up?

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 31/05/2014 18:09

Yes far to big for her I did laugh at the house with the summer bedroo

CateBlanket · 31/05/2014 18:09

She's only approaching 60 - hardly slipping into her dotage! Why shouldn't she enjoy an active retirement in a beautiful house where she has plenty of room to have friends to stay?

Mrsjayy · 31/05/2014 18:10

I think she just got overexcited nobody on their own needs a huge house

17leftfeet · 31/05/2014 18:11

It's her money she can do what she likes but I would imagine a 5 bed house with just under half an acre of garden is going to be tough going

AtSea1979 · 31/05/2014 18:15

I saw this, very odd indeed. I'd buy a terraced house and blow the lot on cruises.

17leftfeet · 31/05/2014 18:16

According to zoopla she paid full asking price

Mrsjayy · 31/05/2014 18:17

There was a thread the other day where somebody was pondering seling there big house because she was on her own and felt isolated I know 60 isnt ancient but ..

Sparklingbrook · 31/05/2014 18:21

60 isn't ancient. If I was her i wouldn't be tying myself down to a rambling old pile in the country that costs a fortune in maintenance and heating and gardening.
