Yes I know, I was being facetious, but I do believe that a lot of our tax gets spent on unnessesaries. And I just don't understand the giant jump in terms of % between standard and higher rate tax.

I don't see why the % should go up after a certain limit, it's just pure greed on behalf of the government to part people of their hard earned money...

Because it's not proportional. Poorer people pay proportionally more of their income in tax. Also, and I know that this isn't to do with taxation, but the poorest people donate the largest proportion of their income to charity.

This is one reason why increasing the zero tax band is not a great idea. It would be better to keep the zero tax band low and instead provide tax credits to the poorest households.

Out of interest, where do you see this money going? Interestingly, you appear to be referring to only the tax of the higher earners.

It's the hypocrisy - On the one hand will fund raise to get other people to donate their money to charity - while with the other hand he's taking money away from hospitals, schools, hospices, paramedics, nurses etc

I'll accept that. It's legal, but immoral in my opinion. However the hypocrisy of the politicians is worse in my opinion. They complain about Amazon and Google and Highly Paid Celebrities, but they are the ones creating the tax loops. And don't get me started on trust funds.

Gary Barlow is a very talented singer and songwriter, you are either very stupid or in denial if you don't realise that.
