I remember the foulness of Robbie Williams at one of his gigs at Milton Keynes that I had the great misfortune to be at. Nasty comments about GB all night.

The three of them make a deeply unpleasant triumvirate though- GB, JC and RW. Three little butterballs.

noddyholder · 10/05/2014 09:04

Loathe Gary hope the taxman finally nails him. He should have paid up and not avoided his taxes he has more money than he can ever spend just pure greed. I feel sorry for him though that isn't his natural size he always looks hungry

EffectiveCommunication · 10/05/2014 09:10

I think you are right it is a struggle for GB to retain his weight, good for him that he meets that challenge.

SpanishFly · 10/05/2014 09:22

The singing in the car - it was a joke! James put on the CD, which was all of TT's back catalogue.

I remember Gary being a laughing stock, it was really horrible. Robbie was an utter twat to him, a vile smug little shit. I've really really disliked Robbie since then. And I'm pretty sure they only kissed and made up for financial gain.

itsbetterthanabox · 10/05/2014 09:30

Oh it was so embarrassing to watch Blush
James can't really be a Gary Barlow fan, surely!
I think James cordon is very talented. Gary Barlow is not. And is a tax avoiding Tory.

SpanishFly · 10/05/2014 09:43

But the taxman has caught up with him now. I've read in the past that James was a big TT fan

AnneEyhtMeyer · 10/05/2014 13:39

itsbetterthanabox I think James cordon is very talented. Gary Barlow is not

You must have an odd definition of talented.

MikeLitoris · 10/05/2014 15:16

Didn't Jc used to be in a TT tribute band as Gaz?

MikeLitoris · 10/05/2014 15:21

Quick Google and no he wasn't in an actual tribute but was the Gary in Fake That. For Comic relief.

He has admitted to being a superfan though. Following them around and hanging around outside their hotels.

Mintyy · 10/05/2014 15:26

Also baffled by GB's national treasure status. Bah!

Oblomov · 10/05/2014 15:33

JC was like a love sick puppy. vomit enducing. .

itsbetterthanabox · 10/05/2014 16:25

Anneehyt. James cordon wrote and directed Gavin and Stacey which I think was very good. He is a talented writer and comic actor. Yeah he's done some shit stuff but he's still good. Gary Barlow writes very mediocre pop songs as part of a god awful pop group and doesn't sing or play well. He's then gone into awkward, stiff tv appearances as himself Confused

AnneEyhtMeyer · 10/05/2014 16:31

Oh so his Ivor Novello awards were given for a laugh, then?

tiredandsadmum · 10/05/2014 16:47

I liked the programme - it dealt with awkward and sad moments very well. I thought the chemistry between JC and GB was great.

SpanishFly · 10/05/2014 19:44

Frankly I thought it was a great programme, and they had a great rapport. If you don't like TT or GB or the music then it was an odd thing to choose to watch then complain about!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/05/2014 19:54

You might not like his style of music but he plays the piano like I only dream of.

I too wonder why you would have watched unless you were a fan of Gary Barlow or Take That. I also imagine someone with as much money as Gary uses an accountant or money manager who would have recommended the investments so doubt he would have known the in's and outs, just paid what he was told. I found the documentary inciting, poignant and funny. I don't think Gary is smug or arrogant and doesn't court fame like many of his peers.

itsbetterthanabox · 11/05/2014 22:01

I watched it with someone who likes them. I do like cordon.
I don't think having an accountant is any kind of excuse. Your money your responsibility.

polyhymnia · 11/05/2014 22:30

Loathe them both so didn't watch.

SpanishFly · 11/05/2014 23:01

Great, thanks for your comment on a thread about two people you loathe on a programme you didn't watch Grin

Vivacia · 12/05/2014 12:47

I don't understand the tax avoidance Barlow is getting. He hasn't broken any laws. I don't agree with how the rich and powerful can avoid tax in ways we can't, but my problem is with those who create the laws.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/05/2014 13:17

Viv-I agree.

Eminybob · 12/05/2014 13:40

I know this a a bit irrelevant and will probably get me flamed, but I think higher rate tax is just a joke, I don't see why the % should go up after a certain limit, it's just pure greed on behalf of the government to part people of their hard earned money, little of which I think we see put back into the community. They are the con artists in my opinion.
I speak as someone nowhere near the hrt threshold by the way, but can see why people would want to do everything they can to minimise the tax they pay to our greedy government to pay for their subsidised restaurant in the Houses of Parliament.

HeeHiles · 12/05/2014 13:51

It's the hypocrisy - 0n the one hand will fund raise to get other people to donate their money to charity - while with the other hand he's taking money away from hospitals, schools, hospices, paramedics, nurses etc - and surely his accountant would have run the scheme past the group - so they knew what they were doing!

LineRunner · 12/05/2014 13:52

Eminybob, taxes pay for quite a bit more that running the Houses of Parliament catering arrangements.
