You're right, they have big problems, both of them and the kids are suffering , well they all are.

Do we have a plan? Yes, see the gp asap and get some proper family therapy!

Actually I really liked this. It was done in such a way as to allow the parents to actually reflect on how their own behaviours and priorities were affecting their children. Through watching the film and the questions Jo asked they were allowed to come to their own realisations about what was happening and to agree their own solutions. They were not made wrong or shamed unlike Jeremy Kyle. Much more effective and I came away thinking that this was a couple that would go away and make positive changes made me feel very hopeful. Also it wasn't about Jo's ego, she wasn't acting like a star, just facilitating their process. Very unusual TV, I was impressed personally!

I found the second family quite interesting because they have similar age gaps to us. If you replace the B/B twins with B/G twins, this was the combination of children and ages we had four years ago.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/04/2014 18:21

I really hope there is decent after care counselling!

Scarletohello · 28/04/2014 18:37

Yes I wanted a follow up to see if they had made changes and if things were better!

WeeClype · 29/04/2014 12:11

What I want to know is why does she always wear the same clothes? In Supernanny it was the same shirt for days and yesterday she was on This Morning wearing the same jumper that she was wearing on her show.

WanderingAway · 30/04/2014 11:08

Haha i also compared it to jk when i was telling someone about it.

I thought that it was alright. I did like how the first mum 'forgot' to take her pill and was blasted for that when her dh said that he didnt want any more kids. What a stupid woman. You cant trick someone into pregnancy and expect them to be happy about it.

I was waiting for an update too.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/04/2014 13:47

I missed yesterday's episode, so will watch it when it comes on catch up later.

I'm watching this today and my jaw is dropped that both parents have admitted to violence and Jo is trying to increase contact without involving any other agencies.

nennypops · 30/04/2014 16:10

Is it the same old format as before? It always used to be:

  1. Jo comes and watches parents and kids generally being family from hell.
  2. She gives lots of advice, sets up naughty step/corner/chair, reward system, parents do better, kids start to behave.
  3. She goes away, leaving them on their own. They do well at first, then things start to slide.
  4. She comes back, shows them film of where they went wrong and tells them off.
  5. She goes away again, we're told everything has been fine ever since, happy ending.

I always found no. 5 a bit improbable, TBH.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/04/2014 16:19

OMG really Odd? Shock

I hope they are on catch up soon , I have some serious tutting to do!

Nenny - no its just like Jeremy Kyle now.

It really is crap! I even heard a line JK uses on his show when he's telling dads to see more of the children, the "then walk to see them"!

I think I've seen enough and won't be watching anymore.

OddBoots · 30/04/2014 16:46

Pleas do let me know what you think when you've seen it DDTDQ - I was writing an assignment as I watched so my attention to it wasn't great so I may have misunderstood.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/04/2014 16:52

I will!

Mrs X- spot on! She's great as a nanny, but family problems?Confused

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/05/2014 14:42

And we listen to 50 mins of the problem and then nothing gets resolved, just a few standard phrases trotted out!

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 05/05/2014 14:48

I liked her Supernanny stuff. I do believe she has a skill, and she has used it brilliantly.

But this is just a mess. It all looks like an American set.

OOh no it looks like she's sat on the coffee table now....

Sparklingbrook · 05/05/2014 14:50

Can I ask what the connection between these two women is?
