Does anyone else like Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Isn't it hysterical?!

i love it, and angel too. David Boreanez can bite my neck anytime!

scotchick · 20/08/2006 19:01

Never really seen Angel, must give it a try - as good as the Buffmeister would you say??

oh dear, none of them look good 'changed'! I realised that my ds 1 and 2 had actually watched a bit of Buffy when ds1 heard me and dh talking about it and he said 'Buffy, your face!' whichis from the episode where Buffy becomes a vampire (the nightmare one). We had to have strict words with FIL!!!

i would say it is on a par with buffy, but abit more serious. i think its the old dark and sinister side of vampires that gets me as i like angel when hes bad

shanks313 · 20/08/2006 19:42

I used to love Buffy and Angel although dont watch them much now.

I have actually met most of the Buffy cast and all of the Angel cast and every single person were lovely.

scotchick · 20/08/2006 19:44

I remember when I had just had ds2, my husband would watch Buffys taped by FIL and I would slag it off - til I watched one and loved it!

shanks313 , how did you meet them?

I loved Buffy, but I never got into Angel in quite the same way, although I enjoyed the first couple of series it just got a bit complicated and silly after a while.

scotchick · 20/08/2006 19:48

Remember the one 'the Gentlemen'? THAT was scary!

I started watching Buffy when my dd wanted to watch - she was 12 I think & I wanted to check it was ok for her. She adored Spike & was rather put out when I pointed out that James Marsters was closer to my age than hers. Spike is much more gorgeous than Angel "Angel is lame. His hair sticks up and he's bl*y stupid"

bran · 20/08/2006 20:03

Has anyone seen Firefly or the film Serenity, also by Joss Whedon. Now there's a tragic overlooking of a series. It was cancelled after one series and it was great (although the first two episodes were a bit slow admittedly). Then he made the film Serenity because he felt it was such a shame the series was cancelled and the film turned out to be a hit. (Ironically, the opposite of what happened with Buffy which started as a not very good movie and became a great series.)

tribpot · 20/08/2006 20:05

A friend of a friend of mine has a book called "That's Not My Vampire" in which of course Angel features - "that's not my vampire, his head is too square" and Spike is 'my' vampire (not sure which of his qualities was most feted).

Love Buffy, mostly love Angel, love Firefly ... I could continue

JonesTheSteam · 20/08/2006 20:10

Another huge Buffy fan here - absolutely loved it and was really sad when it finished. Liked Angel as well and have just borrowed the 'Firefly' series from my sister (to watch whilst ironing!!!)

Cappuccino · 20/08/2006 20:12

I actually first really started coming on mn when I went to a Buffy fansite to bemoan the end of the last series of Angel

everyone on there was about 12 and it was very depressing

so I came to mn where I had been lurking for a while and found a load of people who liked it

so I stayed for real

shanks313 · 20/08/2006 20:14

Im also a fan of Firefly and also met most of the Firefly cast too.

I go to conventions and meet them and I have been doing them for about 4 years now.

Actually met my husband at a Buffy con but we always lived 2 minutes away from each other

Now Im into Stargate and met most of that cast and in March we went to Vancouver and went and saw the Stargates in the studios.Cant wait till November when I finally get to meet Richard Dean Anderson

Have seen all of Buffy, all of Angel on DVD, all of Firefly on DVD and am currently up to S4 of Stargate SG1 on DVD (S5 on order!).

scotchick · 20/08/2006 20:20

Dior, can't believe you stopped at season 4! Season 5 was amazing - with Buffy's sister, dawn, and of course Glory! Prob my fave season. And then season 6 with the 'trio' - Andrew - classic comedy!!!!

Yes. Riley wasn't a great character. Promise me you'll try to get your hands on season 5. Buffy suddenly has a sister and the storyline that follows is genius. I also loved Firefly - another great JW series.

OP posts:
scotchick · 20/08/2006 20:23

JW being Joss Whedon - not jehovahs witness obviously

I hated Dawn - can you imagine the threads Buffy could have had on MN about her? kleptomania, lying, snogging a vampire, grades slipping etc etc...

God, surely the arrival of Dawn was a real low point for the series? Other than Tara my worst character ever. (Other than Kennedy, Willow has nae luck with the laydeez).

shanks you are fabulously well-connected and I am very jealous! Firefly in particular just seems to have been a fantastic series to make, with brilliant actors and a great sense of theatre.

Jasnem · 20/08/2006 20:26

I've seen all of Buffy (did get bored with the last couple of seasons) and all of Angel (started to get bored then renewed interest when Spike arrived). It sounds like I need to watch Firefly (never even heard of it)
